Flitwick
A small village that acts almost as a go-between the civilised world and the mountains… as a result they deal in a lot of supplies and their inns often represent a last stop for travellers… despite this they have proved to be rather successful despite not growing tremendously and seem to settle at their current pace. At first look: There is also a complete lack of homeless people and almost no undesirables throughout. Some digging would reveal that they had an overwhelmingly large population but one day 4 strange individuals wandered into the town and caused absolute chaos. There are also no guards to be noticed and no strict political system. As Reginald Wilhelm has been ‘away’ on business for a time and is not the most ‘conscious’ owner of the town. Darrell expects he will return any day now and seek to re-establish order and doesn’t look forward to it.
If the party stick around Flitwick and can be trusted the truth will be revealed as the undesirables in hiding will either end the disguises cast on themselves or will come out of hiding. It becomes apparent that Flitwick, since just 10-20 days ago having had their homeless all taken and enslaved received a concentrated influx of undesirables from multiple directions. Some came from Purgatory… including Darren and Marga Blaiche who snuck here on a smuggling ship belonging to a blue skinned tiefling. Some came from the Snowfeld mountains, claiming that there was a sanctuary for ‘monsters’ that was since destroyed by the light upon being sighted. Some came as escaped prisoners of Barmswich to the east and some came from the resistance to the West…. Though Darrell refuses to take the side of either in the fight, he simply wants to help those in the village.
Since the battle with Reginald Wilhelm Flitwick has become a bastion of protection for the north of Thornden, they have taken in many undesirables and those that sympathise with them and are rapidly growing into a large town and industrial space.
They have also taken steps to build up their knowledge and use of firearms as well as their religious worships of Tyr and Kord, this has turned Flitwick into a very strong settlement in Thornden and has also given them a degree of safety and time to grow and build defences with the recent destruction of the Light Base in Barmswich and the ritual land of bane.
Demographics
The geography of the area is the following: The majority predators are the ice wolves subspecies of wolves who tend to act as pack leaders for smaller subsets of regular pack wolves. Their prey consists of primarily deer and, strangely enough, squirrels as well as smaller subsets of winter monstrosities and humanoids in the area.
The apex predator at the moment is still being discussed though in the night stands with the behemoth druid and his two thralls who are currently controlling and dominating the forests after visiting a nearby village.
Government
Currently, the town is in a state of both bliss and disarray. The undesirables are incredibly happy and see a future for themselves here while the flitwick townsfolk have embraced them into the town due to the undesirables being so willing to work hard and be charitable to earn their keep (as opposed to the ‘sorry lot’ from barmswich who spent 10 years in camps and on the streets trying to get as much charity as possible.
However, those who have taken a more political interest in the towns affairs (such as Darrell who has become a kind of acting mayor) have formed a group called ‘The Circle’ (look at NPC’s) who are trying to work out a long term solution as Darrell knows Reginald’s return is simply a matter of time and the undesirables will soon be found after.
Some members of the circle have mentioned the ‘removal’ of Reginald Wilhelm but Darrell is unsure.
Defences
The guard presence in Flitwick isn't HUGE but they really REALLY are willing to defend their town. The walls are half metal and half wood while their masquerade seems to be their best defence.
