Barad-tal

This ancient city was once a part of the Vetus' expansive empire. Located roughly 300 miles north of Karakse-tal along the Road of One Thousand Pillars.   Translated to The City of Towers, it's defined by its countless spires, tightly built together into a tall and compact city structure. Many of these towers are now empty as the population was decimated during the cataclysm.   When the world was torn, Barad-tal was just north of the newly created horrible cliffs, in an already cold northern region that now became a frigid wasteland. The cataclysm severed the great road, and in the first year of the Second Age the elves constructed an elevator structure to ascend from the road below to the gates of the city.   This city became the refuge of the Old Elves fleeing the wrath of the human clans in those early years of this age. Now it is the capital of what remains of that empire. These days most elves hail from Barad-tal, save the odd expatriate and the elves that remained in Zilant Swamp.

Government

The Elves of Barad-tal formed a council to rule the city-state. This secretive council is made up of an unknown number of members. It's believed some members may still be Old Elves still alive by means of ancient Vetus magic.
