Urgand North Pole
The North Pole of the Anagon Homeworld, Urgand.
This area is notably colder than other areas of the neutron star (it is perhaps worth mentioning that neutron stars are extremely hot so even this area would still be thousands of degrees. Cold is relative). Similar to any regular planet, it can have several month-long days and nights. It would also have a noticeably more powerful gravity than other areas on the star as it spins very rapidly which can reduce the gravity by a small amount. The poles however do not experience rotation. This effect is not close to the effect of gravity though so it only has a very small effect.
Furthermore, as neutron stars have an immensely powerful magnetic field, the flux density observable at this area is extremely high. It is this effect that also causes a lot of natural disasters in the area, making life very difficult for both non-sapient life and anagons alike. What life does survive here has adapted to the very cold conditions.
This area, much like the real life Antarctic region, is not really owned by any one power politically. It does see many scientific expeditions. However, they did end up having wars over the location as the extreme magnetic field has value such as electricity generation. Navigation of the North Pole would be very difficult without satellite technology, especially since at this location the magnetic field would seem to go straight up. It would take a very precise compass to navigate.
The first expedition to reach the exact North Pole planted a device similar to a flag there. Several groups set off to find it before this group, but ended up dead.
Finally, the entire area is split into several sectors named Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta quadrants. Strangely, the areas have slightly different conditions. However, near the North Pole itself all areas overlap, making it extremely dangerous. The flag left by that group is likely not there anymore.
The Alpha quadrant has many earthquakes.
The Beta quadrant has many tornadoes.
The Delta quadrant has a temperature even lower than the other quadrants.
