Revenant MBT

Main Battle Tank of the Hyperion Federation. Mounted with a small High Energy Turret Hardpoint to mount any downscaled starship weapon to. It is a hover tank, able to float above ground and water. It is light and fast while still being well armoured, especially from the front.   The armour of a revenant is well sloped, giving it a relatively low profile and ability to deflect incoming shells. Its shield is also similarly sloped for this reason. Its secondary armament consists of several secondary, much smaller turret mounts. These can also be mounted with downscaled starship weapons. While the Revenant is extremely heavy due to the use of TGX Composite, it is still fast despite its mass. This is provided by very powerful photon thrusters similar to those seen in many HF starships. The Revenant might even be space capable with some modification due to this. It can achieve a top speed of almost 150 km/h which makes it extremely fast to deploy where needed. It hovers on a very powerful electromagnetic field which distributes the mass of the tank over a very large area on the ground. If the tank is lowered, this compresses the field which makes it impart a much stronger force on the tank. It can be kept in place using this technology.   It is fitted with QEC machines and automatic sector scanning. They can communicate with the rest of the HF military and provide constant intel updated in real time on all known enemy locations based on these scans, which are often capable of detecting enemy forces even when they are behind cover. This provides a very large strategic advantage.    The Revenant tank is often fitted with a Desolation Plasma Railgun. The cover image of this article shows such a layout. The Revenant has one ability not shared by most hover tanks: It can hover on any object regardless of angle. It can climb a 90 degree slope or even cling to the underside of an overhang. However, if the terrain collapses it is likely to bury the tank. Most species piloting the tank during such an event should survive as the TGX Composite armour is very strong and the seats are designed to cushion any impact significantly.   Like most HF technologies, the Revenant emits a massive energy signature that is easily detected by most factions. Though the tank is very powerful and constantly scans the area around it, it is possible albeir very difficult to ambush it. Hitting the large generator on its rear is likely to damage it, but after some initial prototypes this sections armour was improved. Few weapons that are smaller than tank main cannons will be able to penetrate a Revenant. In many cases, a Revenant can request orbital bombardment or other types of support. This requires an immense amount of ready fire power in space, so they are not always given this clearance.

Despite its hovering nature, the Revenant will detonate landmines that it travels over. This is due to the force it exerts on the ground ot keep itself floating. However, a specialised version with an upgrade kit massively increases the surface area that it 'hovers' on, making it very unlikely to detonate mines and allowing it to travel over water or other extremely unstable terrain. This comes with the disadvantage of possibly harming any individuals that attempt to come close to the tank, as well as slowing its top speed down by about 30 km/h.
