Mauray Federation

A large, powerful faction that originally came from the homeworld of Mauray.

The Mauray Federation is extremely well renowned in Fortrais for being very difficult to fight. They do not use much conventionanl technology like other factions, but make use of magitech, which allows them to defy several established laws of physics to an extent. This can make their weapons and armour incredibly difficult to counter, especially for AI factions such as the HEX Mainframe and Cypher Dominion which rely very heavily on the weapons of the enemy following the laws of physics. This has allowed the Mauray Federation to expand across the Cluster with relative ease compared to the HF. Their weapons can also vary massively and are quite unpredictable, depending on the magical runes printed on the various Larjarak Crystals. Though the Maurayans are not genocidal, they are quite militarist as they fought each other for many years on their homeworld before unifying, especially the nation called the Yunsogn Federation which is often the nation credited to the founding and unification of the Mauray Federation.

The journey to Mauray's core has been made very easy with advances in technology and magic. The Core is what grants everyone magic, and visiting it will grant one a much stronger attunement. This has increased the amount of elite magic forces, but of course only 1 Mauray exists and it is not possible to make the entire military visit the core as they are recruited.

The Maurayans have defended many alien species from attacks by hostile factions. The suons are quite powerful, so the federation actively tries to save those at risk much like the HF; it behaves similar to the HF in many ways but with much less advanced technology. Other Maurayan species are seen as well, and as such the Federation tries to protect organic environments and so on. This became important when they realised that the Arkan galaxy was under attack by the CD and HM, which both wanted to assimilate the harkas, but the elves and Eptha took heavy offense to this as they saw Arkan as a single, massive biological ecosystem which was risking being ruined. The harkas joined the Mauray Federation, which soon obtained the bioengineering ability of the harkas. Many from the harkas species wanted to learn magic, so many bioships making use of magic in their biology were grown. This made Maurayan forces even less predictable...

Eventually, bioengineered dragons were being deployed through the emptiness of space. Though the HM and CD threats are incredibly powerful, they are on the defensive. The Maurayans also launch attacks on the GAE and XC, to less success, but their raids make attacks far less common.
