Ice Suon

A special gene of Suons allowing the person to survive in very cold environments.
The body is very resistant to low temperature. Almost all body parts have an equal and very low freezing point, but if they did get frozen, which typically happened in specific weather, the bodies are designed to do so rapidly, painlessly and with minimal damage. The process of thawing out is similarly efficient. This way, the suon effectively sleeps through the weather. If they did not thaw out, a rescue team had to be sent. As many lives were previously lost to the extremely cold climate of northern Eprus, the gene was developed by that nation to save lives from it.
Although the body temperature is still very high due to still being suon, it is designed to still survive even if this body temperature drops below 0 to an extent. They can survive between 60 - -20°C.
Despite this, they still feel the cold, to a lesser extent, and are very uncomfortable at about 0°C.
An ice suon's body is designed in a way that makes water within it freeze into a very specific structure so that it falls back into the original structure when thawed out. They can do this using cryoprotectant chemicals. They can retain heat excellently due to having a very unconductive skin in cold conditions. Under normal conditions, the skin's heat conduction returns to normal levels for a suon as to not overheat. Ice suons also make use of less water in their biology, as water crystallises when it freezes which increases its volume and makes it harder to retain the correct and precise body shapes. This must also include small structures such as the DNA in their brain. An ice suon's body requires time to prepare for the cold. If they are exposed to temperatures lower than about 15°C for an extended period, they will undergo significant physiological shifts that prepares them for the low temperatures. This includes using their heart-equivalent organ to pump cryoprotectants around the body, preparing to shift water from the brain very quickly and reducing the heat conduction of their skin. A small section of their brain becomes isolated from the rest of the brain and becomes insulated so well that it retains much of it's heat even when the rest of the body is frozen. These physiological shifts happen over the span of about 1-2 hours, and during the process the person in question often has little energy as so much of it is used on these changes. Assuming they went through this transformation, their brain can quickly expel all water from itself when ice is detected forming on the body. They become clinically dead with the exception of the isolated section.
As of the Tebburus Unification War, they tend to develop excellent heat retention technologies in order to keep warm. There is less food around the very cold areas of the planet, so ice suons tend to have a lower population though they still often perform agriculture to produce food on an industrial scale. Their wars have primarily been fought over large farms and food resources rather than ideology like the rest of the world but they have unified more quickly, allowing them to launch attacks on warmer areas of the planet. They could also trade with those warmer areas for more food which led to population increases but could also attack some areas. This was an important boon for these cold nations.
