Fire Suon

The Fire Gene makes the Suon far more heat resilient. While they will still burn in lava, they can live near volcanoes much more safely. This gene was created by Ooblar to make living in its many very hot lands more efficient.
Fire suons are visually distinct from regular suons primarily by their skin and bioluminescence texture which is different due to the use of different materials.   Fire suons have skin that is designed to allow a person to survive in environments hotter than their body temperature. It is very unconductive and does not react to various elements such as sulphur as easily. However, this would cause their own body heat to accumulate inside them, causing death. To solve this, they have a number of glands on their skin which are designed to radiate heat, giving them a massive heat signature which is normally hidden with the hot environment. Similar to Ice Suons, fire suons need time to prepare for their environment and allow these physiological changes to take effect. Outside of very hot conditions, their biology is similar to that of 'normal' suons, with a different, more rough skin material. Their radiator organs will seal closed. The process of preparing for hot envirnments takes about 1-2 hours and is triggered by exposure to an environment that gets close to suon body temperature for a period of time. During this process, one will probably become exhausted as the body spends most of its energy on transformation.     Unlike ice suons, however, fire suons can remain conscious while in extreme conditions. They also have a modified lung which incoroprates a filter. In volcanic conditions such as Volcano Island, Tebburus, where the fire suons were designed to survive, there are some compunds in the atmoshpere, like sulphur, that can be toxic to other suons who do not have filters. This can limit the amount of air they can breathe though, so they also have more efficient lungs and a larger esophagus to accomodate more air. However, as they can inhale very hot air in hot environments, a massive amount of heat is likely to transfer to the lung, or the stomach when swallowing. Both of these organs can conduct heat effectively to the radiator glands, which glow very bright. A lot of waste heat is also expelled when they exhale. This excellent heat conduction ability warrants a much faster metabolism, however due to the high heat density there might be a higher life density, allowing them to obtain more food.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

Fire suons are mainly distinct due to the lack of flammable material in their bodies. They still melt in temperatures above about 300 C. As such, they can survive most contact with fires but not lava. Their body temperatures are also higher than regular suons, at about 55 C. This is because they are less conductive to heat.
