HF - Harkas First Contact
First contact event between the Hyperion Federation and the Harkas of the Beta Targos System.
Although the Harkas at the time were still near-constantly fighting wars with each other over each other's planets, the arrival of HF starships at the orbital radius of about 18 AU (near Zarbarax) has quickly earned their curiosity. The harkas have never seen non-biological starships before, not to mention the extremely high energy signature. Likewise, the HF was curious about these people that seem to have starships that were biological. In a way they were completely different from but almost like the other bioships of the galaxy; the Troznux were at this point well known to be entirely uncrewed as troznux have individuality. Being crewed would mean they don't have full control of their body, but they do.
Harkas bioships are lifeforms specifically designed to act as vehicles. The HF launched deeper investigations into the harkas, and the harkas also investigated the HF. Neither understood the language of the other, especially since the harkas communicate not through light or sound but their hivemind. They could not use this to communicate with the hyperionites as they didn't understand how the HF aliens' brains were connected.
Neither side dared fire at the other, as they did not understand how powerful the other was, and because it could ruin future relations.
The harkas came ever closer to the several HF ships tasked with patrolling the system at the time. They became perplexed just looking at the ships. They could find no conceivable entrance - and couldn't even be sure if they even had a crew. The ships could also be organic, but in an entirely new way previously considered impossible. If this theory was correct, then studying them could provide a nation or planet with a huge advantage that was too great to pass up.
Soon, the HF starships found many groups of harkas approach them. The HF ships elected to simply just to observe these new people. Several came so close to the ships that the proximity alarms sounded, but the HF ships still just simply watched them come. One particularly bold harkas touched a starship in person - and several others also touched it out of curiosity. By this point, the HF has made sure to shut down their engines and significantly drop their energy signatures in case someone tried to move behind the engine or in front of an incredibly powerful QEN heat vent - both cases surely would have caused anything to melt in under a millisecond.
In order to establish communications, at least one harkas must observe the brain connections of a hyperionite, but neither side knew this. Alternatively, the HF could opt for very unreliable communications in the form of a green-eyed Rih'kiel, which was better than no communication. They soon chose to Teleport one such person on board.
The harkas learned that the HF ships are definitely fully mechanical and crewed and the HF learned the harkas would need to understand their brain patterns for reliable communication. The HF starships have made use of holograms to project 3D images of various species brains into nearby space, allowing them to communicate only from very short range. Using this method, both sides have exchanged a lot of information. The HSA then launched more significant studies on every planet in the star system, teleporting teams down to every planet with a surface in order to see each other in person and conduct proper studies on them all.
The long term relationship from this event has become very positive, and the HF has managed to bring peace to the Beta Targos system by introducing the idea of star nations to them. Shortly, every Beta Targos System star nation unified into the Unified Arkan Council (UAC) and joined the HF, where both sides contribute much to the defence and scientific advancements of the other.
