Omkainth and Ediveyrm

Where is Ediveyrm?

High in the mountains on the eastern overlook of Tirrtian Pass, Ediveyrm is more known about than visited. The steep mountains prevent anyone but the most dedicated from visiting it, and only Vashael may do so freely.

Although it is not accessible by ground from Lirtirra and Tyula due to bad mountainous terrain, it is on the map the next theome north from Tyula.

How is Ediveyrm classified?

Negotiable, though long-time residents quibble with this. The negotiable classification is due to the very high altitude of most construction in Ediveyrm, where the risk of great falls daunts visitors. Residents say that this fear is overstated and that their sacred mountaintop cities are VERY safe.

What kind of population and economy does Ediveyrm have?

The local population is majority Vashael, as the wind-manipulating Vashael find flying to great heights easiest of all dragon breeds. The second most common species are Swaivshon, who are winged and least daunted by the chill. There are also minor populations of Vrash (who are also winged) and Izerah (who are untiring and very proud to show up everywhere). Strangely, there are a few people of every known species, and so for instance there are Veserus who live in flooded homes with well-sealed basements despite the improbability of this, and there are not only Myrghon who are very rare on the surface (let alone at altitude), but also Myrskor that are even more unheard of on the surface. And, of course, there are Vohntrai, but for all that their presence might seem matter-of-course when every other species is represented, their presence might be the strangest of all: the Vohntrai have a rotating council where the members are elected from across a third of Kelkaith for hundred year residence terms in Ediveyrm.

This diversity seems to be a priority of the local land god, who has built up a non-economy of great note in Ediveyrm. Omkainth does not require food imports to reach this place of obscurity, but takes the bizarre stance among land gods of feeding his people by overt miracle. The people of Ediveyrm are in turn taken up with sacred wrangling, prayer, and contemplation. Uttermost Dark has a well-attended temple here. Querent-Querent's library is second-place to the temple that Omkainth has pressed the geomancers of Querent-Querent to build for their 'Faith'. (The Lineal Society is not present, as Omkainth does not consider them a faith.) Other marginal faiths have built temples here, and many land gods are represented with a place of worship. This diverse monastic community contemplates the nature of the sacred... although they do not worship Omkainth, who rarely incarnates and does not desire to be worshipped.

Local buildings are made of local stone and local metal, supplied from quarries and mines by Izerah and Myrghon workers who adore the labor (for different reasons). Unusually, the quarries and mines are not everquarries and evermines, but rather the mountaintops under Ediveyrm are gradually being hollowed. Omkainth has directed some of this, and called upon the local Vrash minority to harden the interior of the mountain so that the hollowing of the peaks may be a safe process that yields more usable space for Ediveyrm.

What is Omkainth like?

A twisting three-point spiral of red, such is the incarnate avatar of Omkainth when Omkainth is visible at all. Far less prone to taking an avatar than most land gods, Omkainth speaks bodilessly and sometimes even wordlessly, as when daily prayers for sustenance are answered by the soundless manifestation of unprepped vegetables for cooking. By promoting diversity and contemplation, Omkainth encourages a deep belief that people have much to contribute to each others' understanding of beauty and rightful thought. Fate pressures are light over Ediveyrm, but Fate goes taut over people who try to act violently. It can be rather strange. Ordinarily there are no perceptible adjustments to thought being made by the Fate woven over Ediveyrm, but those who try to break the peace of Ediveyrm find themselves fighting with Omkainth's will.

What is the Fate Beacon that Omkainth maintains over Ediveyrm?

The local Tolerance Beacon promotes the contemplations of the people of Ediveyrm over the whole of Theoma, a gentling influence that encourages people to get along despite differences of thought and species. Many of the locals believe that the purpose of their prayers is to contribute to the theome's beacon.
