Myrskor

What is a Myrskor?

Myrskor are quadrupedal dragons with oversized earfins. They have no wings. They live underground in the same theomes as the Myrghon. Myrskor can walk on their hind legs for some distance, but not as far as Vashael. They have many colors and many variations of horns, though not as many variations of horns as dragon species with smaller earfins have.

What is the magical gift of the Myrskor?

The Myrskor live in a bright society despite living underground because they can summon light. By force of will, they can summon orbs of light, and for instance a common playful way to use this ability is to summon spots of light on the tips of their fins to cast light where they are looking. Virtuosos of this talent can summon patterns of light upon their scales just like Veserus can.

The involved rituals to achieve it are somewhat uncomfortable, but most adult Myrskor have permanently bound some of their light magic into a very bright construct that resembles a mirrored shield with a ball of light hanging from it by fine chains. These are placed over their fields and parks. In this way, Myrskor lights are used for agriculture, a faculty at which they greatly exceed the Myrghon, and which allows them to provide most of the food eaten in the underworld. Some wilderness areas in the underground have likewise been given false suns by the Myrskor.

For reasons of this talent and the brilliance of the society that they have created in the underworld, Myrskor are sometimes called 'Light Dragons'.

Where do Myrskor prefer to establish their settlements?

Like the Myrghon, Myrskor dwell almost exclusively in the underworld. While the Myrghon are drawn to mineable or quarryable resources, Myrskor are drawn instead to luminous phenomenon in the underground, and if they find truly spectacular examples of luminous crystals or luminous biomes in the underworld, their cities may be built up with a "dark preserve" that highlights the few sources of natural light in the underground. They are also strongly drawn to areas that provide good soil, which in the underworld often draws them to pockets of "natural" ecology maintained by the will of the land gods; these they maintain and try to expand in order to reformulate more of the soil into something usable for agriculture.

All Myrghon cities have a Myrskor minority, and all Myrskor cities have a Myrghon minority. The two species live and work together substantially.

The majority of sapients on Theoma are dragons. Ageless, beautiful, and in this place at least, quite peaceful. The majority of dragons on Theoma are Vrash or Vashael, who are beloved if they settle the underworld near Myrskor. The Vrash ability to reform surfaces is especially invaluable to the farming Myrskor.
