Dragonspine Islands

The Dragonspine Islands, also known as the Dragonbacks, is a rugged and untamed continent located on the planet of Eularia. It is a land of freedom and opportunity, where immigrants from all over the world have come to make a new life for themselves. The population is incredibly diverse, with humanoids and non-monstrous species holding a higher percentage, but you can find any species here at any time. The people of Dragonspine take great pride in the fact that they live outside the rules and regulations of the societies they left behind.   The continent is made up of various territories, each controlled by different factions with different goals. One of the most notable territories is Ballimores, which is ruled by the powerful Ballimore Trading Company and the Ballimore family. They control much of the trade and commerce within the island chain. Similarly, the Gusterbrins are controlled by the Gusterbrin family, who also control many trade routes.   Another territory is MumboJu, which is ruled by the LeVeau Family, a powerful family rumored to practice dark magic. The matriarch of the family, Priestess LeVeau, holds immense power and influence in the island. The Cove is a territory controlled by the Pirate King, and is known for its lawlessness and piracy.   Central to the continent is Uassan, an island of trade and market, which falls under a peace treaty that all in Dragonspine abide by. Oselome is believed to be unsettled but avoided by most, as it is rumored to be home to the remnants of the "Old Tribes." Libertà, or the Free Men, is a territory settled by those who've escaped tyranny through the years and made their home in the chain of islands. The Exiles is a lawless territory made up of people so vile they aren't accepted in any of the other territories.   The Dragonspine Islands are also home to the Ferro, Salt, and DiamantÉ Mountains, all ruled by the Dwarven Queendom. These mountains are rich in resources and the dwarves have built a powerful kingdom based on mining and trade. The open seas surrounding the Dragonspine Islands are filled with danger, including ruthless pirates and privateers preying on unsuspecting ships. The seas are also plagued by massive storms that can be incredibly dangerous to travel through. The weather is also an issue, with extreme heat and humidity making it difficult to navigate and survive in some areas.   The darkest and most dangerous place in Dragonspine is The Hallows, a nickname given to the "dark islands" overrun by mysterious creatures and evil. It is a place where only the bravest and most foolhardy dare to tread. Overall, the Dragonspine Islands are a place of opportunity, danger, and adventure. It's a place where anything can happen and where the strong survive. A place where one must be ready for anything, from treacherous seas and storms to powerful criminal organizations and dark magic.

The Six Truths

  1. The Rejects: The Dragonspine Islands is a place where those who have fallen through the cracks of society often find themselves. It is sometimes referred to as "The Drain" or "The Bottom" for this reason. People who are escaping persecution, those who have been exiled, those on the run, and lost souls looking for a fresh start all make their way to the Dragonspine. It is a place where they can rebuild their lives and start anew, free from the constraints of their past.
  2. Lawlessness: The Dragonbacks are a land defined by piracy and conquest. The economy of the islands is built around acquiring resources and shipping them to other realms. The islands themselves are rich in resources, but since the Fissure of Divinity it has become increasingly difficult to transport these goods to the rest of the world. This makes those who have the means to do so incredibly powerful, as they hold a monopoly on the trade. As a result, many ships patrol the waters in search of a prize to keep their coffers full. This dangerous and cutthroat atmosphere is a defining characteristic of the Dragonspine Islands.
  3. Control: In a realm of lawlessness, control is the key to power. Some people find the chaos overwhelming and seek out those who can provide them with protection. Others, however, seek to take control of their own destiny, whether it be through commanding their ship, amassing wealth, claiming an island or territory as their own, or even striving to rule the world. Safety and security can only be found through control of the economy or the strength to impose one's rule. In the Dragonspine Islands, where rules and regulations are scarce, those who can exert control hold the power.
  4. Dark Magic: The Dragonspine Islands are known for their unique and diverse spiritual practices and magic, which are quite different from those found in other parts of the realm. Outsiders and some locals refer to this magic as "Dark Magic" due to its association with curses, hexes, and banes, which are commonly used in the area. There is a belief among some that this magic has led to many of the horrors that fill the Hallows, yet others argue that it's the only thing keeping the true horrors at bay.
  5. Dramatic Weather: The weather in here is a force to be reckoned with, whether it is of natural, divine, or arcane origin. For most regions, the weather is typically hot and humid, with the exception of the jungles and swamps, where it is much worse and can be unbearable at times. The winds can change quickly, bringing about destructive storms that are as powerful as the wrath of the gods. Hurricanes, whirlpools, tidal waves, and the constant threat of tsunamis are a regular occurrence in the Dragonspine. The fog and mist can also be so thick that passage is nearly impossible, making it difficult to navigate the many reefs and rocks that surround the islands. The unpredictability of the weather in Dragonspine makes it a challenging environment for those who live and travel there.
  6. Tensions are High: The Dragonspine Islands are currently in a state of tension as the question of whether Eleanor Ballimore can effectively rule in her father's stead hangs over the region. Many doubt her ability to lead and there are concerns that the Gusterbins may gain even more power. The Freemen have secured more uninhabitable islands than anticipated, leaving no more territory to claim. The Hollows, a dangerous and mysterious place, remain uncharted. There are fears that the Exiles, a group of lawless individuals, will rise up to claim more territory. Rumors of a new Pirate King have also started to spread, which could reignite old rivalries. The LaVeau family, known for their rumored dark magic practices, have been silent for some time and this has led to speculation about their plans. The Dwarven Queendom, known for its mining of diamonds, iron and salt, have closed their doors, making these resources scarce for the region. All these elements are causing uncertainty and unease among the inhabitants of Dragonspine.
