Empire of Ages
The great empire of humanity. Formed by the ruling families of Meliora after the final fall of First Earth. A great and ancient empire made up of however many planets it happens to claim are under its wing that day.
The Empire was once a plutocracy without a single leader. It was rife with backstabbing and betrayal. After one of the founding families was massacred by a union of three others, the sole survivor--a young man whose name is no longer known--raised an army and subjugated the remaining families. He crowned himself the emperor and has remained in power since, having attained immortality through unknown means.
The emperor rules with a fairly lax fist, intervening seemingly at random. His army remains and it is whispered that the commanders of his personal army are immortal just like him.

The Spiralline and the Jewel Box tend to regard the Empire as beneath them, or somehow a disappointment. The Empire is an example of a civilization gone wrong.
The Empire has no beef with the Jewel Box but tends to see them as elitist assholes if they aren't busy portraying them as 'wow, they're so cool'.
Enemies
The Vivarium is a huge thorn in the Empire's side. That being said, the Emperor himself seems to find the Vivarium more of a nuisance than anything else.
