The event where during the Festival of Restoration at Darnell, Kanrou died. The Umbral Shroud became known, and started attacking residents of The Valley. Aelrid became Elder of Darnell. And The river Vita dried up.

A few months ago during the Festival of Restoration, tragedy occured in The Valley. The festival was occuring in Darnell, and one morning Altalas gathered the people together to reveal the body of Kanrou. With Aelrid standing at his side, he shared how he and a few other members of The Valley were investigating a strange shadowy creature. This led them to an area south of Darnell, where they found the land spread over with shadows, known now as The Umbral Shroud. He urged resolve, and that all would continue to move forward united. Though the weight of this tragedy hung over the rest of the festival.   This became known as "The Breaking".   Over the weeks and months that follow, all villages, but Darnell in particular begun getting attacked by the creatures of the shroud, leading to more people joining the Guard. Aelrid became Elder of Darnell.   Though the greatest devestation came in a few days after Kanrou's death, with The river Vita completely drying up.
