Cooper Durany was a juvenile delinquent, son of a notorious space pirate and smuggler, years before the Coalition was founded, and any of the founding worlds were colonized.
He had an anti-social personality disorder, which later affected many of the clones that were created from his DNA.
He was apprehended on Sisyphus Beta by a group of Space Marshalls, lead by Blast Bolton and brought back to New Mycenae where he was placed in suspended animation, awaiting trial.
At some point, after the fall of New Mycenae, Cooper's DNA was harvested by Finnian Brooke, a notorious space pirate and smuggler, and rival of Cooper's father. He used the DNA to make a clone of Cooper, without giving the clone any of his donor brother's memories. Brooke spent some time traveling at relativistic speeds, which allowed him to stick around long after the statute of limitations on his old crimes made him a free man. In more modern times he crewed his entire ship, Procrustes, with Cooper Clones, and sold the DNA template to the Trident Coalition Space Fleet without telling them of the anti-social personality disorder.
