Sacking of Valaskjalf

The Sacking of Valaskjalf was an attack on the royal palace of Asgard by the Dark Elves, during the Second Dark Elf Conflict.

The Dark Elves were seeking Jane Foster, who had absorbed the Aether.

In order to split Asgard's forces, Algrim the Kursed allowed himself to be captured by Asgardian forces and imprisoned in the dungeons of Valaskjalf. He then used a Kurse Stone, which gave him the power to break out, starting a prison riot which distracted the Einherjar. In the chaos, Algrim was able to lower Asgardia's defences, allowing multiple Dark Elf Harrows to enter Asgardian air space.

Odin lead the Einherjar against the Dark Elves, assisted by Siff, The Warriors Three and Roz Solomon. He was killed in single combat by Malekith the Accursed.

Algrim was tasked with retrieving the Aether, but he was driven back by Frigga and Thor, and failed in his task.
