Gykoth
Chief Liason Gykoth
Gykoth is the current head githyanki liason in Avernus, acting as a messenger between Vlaakith and Tiamat from his posting in Tiamat's Lair.
By securing his posting through his martial and leadership prowess and having earned a degree of Vlaakith's trust, Gykoth has proven himself to be one of the most dangerous githyanki alive.
History
At some point prior to 1497, Gykoth, a renowned Supreme Commander in the githyanki military, was given the title of head liason between Vlaakith and Tiamat, ensuring that the terms of their millennia long pact remained unbroken while also representing Vlaakith's interests in ongoing negotiations with Tiamat. Though a lonley posting, and one that would likely hasten his death, as Avernus did not possess the anti-aging properties of the Astral Sea, Gykoth gladly and reverently accepted his new duties as a true follower of Vlaakith. In early 1497, Gykoth was summoned by the abishai of Tiamat's Lair. They had apprehended the githzerai monk Armag, who was trying to determine what happend to Gith, the semi-mythical liberator of the gith peoples. As this was a githyanki issue, Gykoth served as the prosecutor at Armag's guilty, easily finding him guilty and earning Armag a death sentence. During the trial, it also became known that Armag was part of the Sha'sal Khou, an organization dedicated to reunifying the gith, and thus an enemy of the governments of both peoples. Before Armag was killed, however, another prisoner was brought to Gykoth's attention: the githyanki Dzarya, who had arrived in Avernus along with the Lost Star Detectives to end the Damnation of Elturel. Dzarya had been abandoned by the githyanki on the Material Plane six years previous during the Baldur's Gate Uprising, and her arrival in Avernus violated the pact between Vlaakith and Tiamat, which stated that not githyanki could arrive in Avernus without Tiamat's permission. Dzarya was captured by a group of abishai and teleported to Tiamat's lair to be adjudicated. Knowing how devestating it would be to have Vlaakith's pact with Tiamat broken, Gykoth arranged to have Dzarya placed in in Armag's cell, hoping to inspire seditious sentiment in her and prove that Dzarya was in fact not part of the githyanki hierarchy and thus was unable to violate Vlaakith's pact. His plan succeeded, as Dzarya and Armag bonded, allowing Gykoth to secure a death penalty conviction for Dzarya, stripping her of her military rank in the process. However, Armag and Dzarya managed to escape before their planned executions, greatly angering Gykoth, who ordered his small detachment of githyanki warriors to hunt them down. Dzarya was later briefly confronted by a githyanki dragon rider and a group of abishai at the Bloody Crescent, but she again eluded them. Later, the Lost Star Detectives traveled the highway bisecting Tiamat's Lair to try and rescue Emmeryn Sinaran, an abishai and the deceased wife of Dzarya's companion Katya Sinaran. Emmeryn, however, had arranged her own deal with the abishai and Tiamat to allow Katya to be folded into their ranks at the cost of giving Dzarya back over to the githyanki. During this conversation, Dzarya was waiting in the Detective's warmachine and was confronted by Gykoth and his personal red dragon mount. Katya refused Emmeryn's offer, however, and the Detectives managed to escape the abishai and Gykoth's pursuit. While Gykoth remains the head liason in Avernus for Vlaakith, what punishments he was given for his repeated failures are unknown.Physical Description
Special abilities
Gykoth possessed an extraordinarily strong telepathic aptitude compared to most githyanki, able to wield his silver great sword with only his mind, often fighting with his hands behind his own back.
