Tellus Spaceport

Tellus spaceport is located only a short Tube ride from the settlement of Tellus. The spaceport has an underground rail connection with direct links to most major settlements, mines, power stations, and tourist attractions on the planet Ceres.   As well as the main concourse, with concession stands and information points, the spaceport has an advanced check-in station, ensuring security checks are smooth and hassle-free. There are also dedicated departure lounges at each of the spaceport's ten landing towers providing last-minute refreshments and a Quantum Network Newsstand.   The spaceport has a range of security features, including entry and exit barriers, as well as state-of-the-art facial recognition software that is linked to the Ceresian Criminal Database. In addition, there are security droids stationed throughout the spaceport, providing a visible deterrent and additional security measures.   The spaceport is also home to a number of ground vehicles, including air taxis, which can whisk travellers to their destination in a matter of minutes.   Tellus spaceport is one of the busiest spaceports on Ceres and is able to accommodate all types of spacecraft, from small personal shuttles to large cargo vessels. The spaceport is also equipped with a number of advanced landing and take-off systems, including an orbital launch pad, which gives it the capability to handle interplanetary flights.   Due to its location, Tellus spaceport is one of the best places to watch spacecraft as they enter and leave the atmosphere of Ceres. The spaceport has a dedicated viewing area where travellers can watch the comings and goings of the spacecraft. There is also a range of high-powered telescopes available for hire, which allow travellers to get a closer look at the spacecraft.   In addition to its function as a spaceport, Tellus Spaceport is also home to a number of businesses and organisations, including the headquarters of the Ceresian Space Agency, the Ceresian Scavengers. The spaceport is also home to a number of shops and restaurants as well as a hotel.

Purpose / Function

While the interior is spacious and well-lit, with a number of shops and restaurants dotted around.   The Busy Concourse At Peak Time:

Entries

There are two main entrances to the spaceport, one on the underground level and another airdock on the orbital launch pad. Both entrances are guarded by security droids and have entry and exit barriers.   Dozens of other entrances and exits are scattered throughout the spaceport, including two docks at the top of each of the ten towers, and pressurised airlocks allowing the droids regular access in and out of the port. There are also a number of emergency exits equipped with basic emergency vehicles allowing travel for up to six people for a short distance.

Sensory & Appearance

The spaceport is brightly lit, both inside and out, and the air is filled with the sound of machinery and the bustle of people. The smell of food wafts through the air, as do the occasional puffs of smoke from one of the many welding robots that can be seen working on various repairs.   For those not used to such a bustling environment, the spaceport can be overwhelming and disorienting. The security droids are a constant presence, their red eyes scanning the crowd for any potential threats.

Denizens

The spaceport is home to a number of businesses and organisations, including the Ceresian Space Agency, the Ceresian Scavengers, and the Ceresian Shipping Federation. In addition, there are a number of independent businesses that have set up shop in the spaceport, including restaurants, bars, hotels, and shops.

Contents & Furnishings

The spaceport concourse is furnished with a number of benches and chairs for waiting passengers, as well as a number of kiosks selling food, drink, and souvenirs. Valuables

There is a large amount of treasure and valuables to be found in the spaceport, most notably in the form of credits, which can be found in the various shops and kiosks around the concourse. In addition, there are a number of ATMs and currency exchange machines which dispense credits.

Hazards & Traps

The spaceport is full of hazards and traps, both hidden and in plain sight. The security droids are a constant presence and their red eyes scan the crowd for any potential threats. In addition, the entry and exit barriers are designed to keep out unauthorised personnel, and the orbital launch pad is defended by a number of turrets, which are armed with homing missiles and a powerful laser cannon.

Special Properties

The spaceport has a number of special properties, including state-of-the-art Spaceport Security, a number of restaurants and shops, and a direct rail link to the Ahuna Mons. In addition, the spaceport is home to the Ceresian Space Agency and the Ceresian Scavengers.

Alterations

The spaceport has undergone a number of alterations over the years, most notably the addition of the orbital launch pad.

Architecture

The spaceport comprises a large multi-levelled dome with a multi-layered exterior wall to protect visitors from the harsh Ceres atmosphere, while the ten landing towers are scattered around the surrounding area and the orbital landing pad is to the south of the main building. Much of the port and its rail connections are underground, as are the vast airport hangers where many smaller cargo ships are unloaded, and other vessels are serviced or stored after being decommissioned.

Defenses

The spaceport has several security features, including entry and exit barriers, as well as state-of-the-art facial recognition software linked to the Ceresian Criminal Database. In addition, there are security droids stationed throughout the spaceport, providing a visible deterrent and additional security measures. The orbital launch pad is also defended by several turrets, armed with homing missiles and a powerful laser cannon.

History

Tellus spaceport was built in the early days of the Ceres colony and has since been expanded and upgraded to accommodate the growing needs of the settlement. The orbital launch pad was added in recent years to allow for interplanetary travel.

Tourism

Due to its location, Tellus spaceport is one of the best places to enter or leave the planet of Ceres as it offers underground rail connections to most of the major settlements on the colony, including Ahuna Mons, the cryovolcano and one of the biggest water mines and tourist attractions in the asteroid belt.
