Knight-Specialist Astenos Redmond Fox (a.k.a. The Trickster; Red Ice)
Knight-Specialist Astenos Fox, sometimes referred to by his fellow CIC as the ship's resident 'trickster god,' is the head of ESCI Revelation's Computer and Networks Department. An electronic warfare specialist by military specialization, Fox is multi-talented when it comes to computer science and also serves a role akin to that of a doctor when it comes to the vessel's autonomous systems, including resident human-like artificial intelligences.

Knight-Specialist Fox possesses cybernetic sugmentations including a brain-computer interface with development-edition LimbOS, a g fortification system, and an immune augmentation.
Specialized Equipment
Fox is never seen without his card computer and volumetric display. He is also almost never without a toolkit of some kind, usually an assortment of tiny screwdrivers, electrician's probes, and endoscopes to be used alongside specialized card computer apps. He wears an archaic-looking set of glasses for interfacing with the shipboard intranet's augmented reality layer.

Knight-Specialist Fox is something of a cad, pursuing relationships with a wide variety of women aboard the Revelation without getting too serious about any of them. 90% of the relationship drama that involves the CIC crew has some nexus with Fox's activities. Fox's laissez-faire attitude towards long-term commitment stems not from malice, but from previous experience as an young officer with the Cobalt Knights space corps where stable residence - and thus stable roots - was hard to come by.
Education
Knight-Airman Fox took an extranet correspondence course with Umberlake Polytechnic, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in computer engineering. Naturally attuned to computers and electronics of all sorts as a result of his upbringing, the only son of two technicians aboard the Pentalus Assembly, Fox easly passed his coursework and then rolled that into in-service training with the Cobalt Knights.
Mental Trauma
Knight-Specialist Fox is a veteran of the Armoa Conflict. Having undergone cryoprotectant therapy, Fox was stationed in the Armoa System for a two-year deployment between freezes. During that time, Fox was involved with breaking into Aniki Labs secure systyems and decrypting the contents. Fox was often the first person in 2nd Fleet to bear witness to the atrocities Aniki Labs researchers carried out against their hapless subjects in the name of science. Fox learned about things like 'human exografts' and cybernetic subversion techniques that would make even hardened warriors like Enzo Salt and Howard Mackinnon quail. Part of Astenos Fox's absurdist, iconoclastic sense of humor stems from this trauma, as he is more aware than most of human beings' nature as brief clouds of meat in an uncaring universe and would prefer to spend his brief part of the human tapestry bringing and sharing joy rather than sorrow.
Intellectual Characteristics
Fox is a consummate problem-solver and loves to tangle with a good technical mystery. The crew of the Revelation look to him when anything computerized starts behaving in unexpected ways. While Knight-Specialist Fox is by no means a miracle-worker, one would be hard-pressed to find a computer-related problem he can't either fix outright or research the solution for given enough time. In an era where artificial intelligences and machine learning algorithms have the potential to automate most tasks, Fox serves as an important intermediary betweent the organic and synthetic staff and is part of the all-important Evermornan cultural proclivity towards multiple redundancy when it comes to information technology.
Morality & Philosophy
Knight-Specialist Fox's philosophy could best be described as 'utilitarian hedonism;' he wants to ensure the greatest good for the greatest number of people, but his definition of good relates to positive sensuality spread over the course of a whole life. He works tirelessly to preserve Revelation against internal and external threats because he loves computers, but he also lives as full a life as possible outside of work without stressing over the details. When things are bleak, he cuts in with humor - acutely aware that he might not have another chance (see Mental Trauma) - making him a morale booster even when other might consider him irreverent for doing so.
