Necromancy

Life is but a shackle that denies us of our true potential for only by conquering death shall we truly find our way to salvation - Insane Lich
Most people believe that death is final and that is no coming back from it, that is unless you know someone that can bring them back to life that is. Necromancy is obsessed with creating the undead to do the bidding of their master and often without thinking for themselves. The origins of this Dark Magic often date back to ancient times and was created by mortal hands in the attempt to stop death from claiming them, but brought back the dead to be used as slaves. This can be dangerous if left out of hand as an army of dead people are hard to get rid of and can easily overrun the living if they have the chance. There is also the fact that it can make those who use it unstable as they think they can conquer death and can live forever all the more reason to stop it before it gets out of hand.

Manifestation

Power of Undeath

When something dies that's how it should be, as that is the natural thing to happen and many people agree with that, except for a few that is. often being the ones who can bring back the dead to an extend. Necromancy is often considered one of the oldest forms of Dark Magic to exist in the world as people have feared death more than anything else. The practice has been developed and improved for several millennia for it to get to where it is today and gain the power it holds. Making it all the more horrifying to see what sort of vile things can be done through it. It is here that it shows what people who use this magic are willing to do to live forever. Those who were once dead are risen to live a life of servitude to those who reanimate them, often to spread terror and death where ever they go. There have been many cases where armies of the undead have plagued the land to fulfill the will of their master and their goals. Along with other ways that can be done with those who are dead for other purposes often not for good reasons either. There are even ways to cause the living to turn into the undead as well, but luckily only a few people know about it. To those who cling to life they are willing to do anything to cheat death and through their arts of the dead, they can do so.

Journey into Madness

Eventually, all those who use necromancy will fall into a darkness of their own making, often in their attempts to cheat death. Many of them believe that death can be defeated through their magic as they can bring those who have died back to life. Though they are nothing more than reanimated bodies without the minds of their previous life. But they are persistent and they have found ways to drag Spirits and force them into bodies to live in the mortal world once more. Though they are not thrilled about it as their time ended long ago and should not be here. It also takes a toll on their minds and bodies as well causing them to lose some of the sanity and life that they had once in them as they continue their goals. Many of them die after spending all of their life trying to stop their deaths rather than living their life. Those who have reached their final goal however are never the same as they once were and have forsaken their humanity to become something twisted. It is from here that those that have found a way to become Liches to prove to all that death is not final, that everyone can live forever if they are willing to achieve it by any means. For why live at all when being undead is much better for they do not need the things that the living need. But even then they are unsatisfied by it as their madness drives them onwards for they feel nothing anymore and only wish to spread their power on others to bestow the gift of undeath on to them. To proclaim themselves as gods to bring forth benelovance for all who wish to escape death itself as they have found a way. Only in the end to realize the truth that once they are destroyed that death cannot be stopped and only delayed until it is ready to claim its dues.

Controlling the Dead

Necromancy through some unholy power has the power to reanimate things that have left this world from the beyond. But rather than bringing back something to its original state when it was alive seems not possible and instead create a living corpse that is mindless and obeys every command of the one who raised it. This is where the power of necromancy lies as any corpse can be used to serve its purposes no matter how great or small. All will serve them no matter what is asked of them and will remain as long as they live or hold power over them. But their other powers that can use on the dead as well but that is just it. This is where is magic loses its edge it can only be used on dead things and nothing else that is where its power lies. But no matter how long the corpse has stayed in a place and even if there were only bones it can still be raised as long as it is in good condition. Creating an army that is harder to kill as they are already dead and feel nothing as they can keep on fighting to create more corpses to be raised of those they claimed. Making it almost pointless as for every comrade that dies by their hand comes back as one of them and are willing to kill them with out a second thought about it.

Areas of Interest

Power: Necromancy greatly depends on how much magic can be found in a user as it can greatly depend on what they can do with what power they have. This is because they have to give up some of their magic to create their undead minions reanimated and not fall to become corpses again. Meaning the number of undead can greatly weaken the magic of a user as long as they are given magic. The amount of magic an undead receives depends on its type and how powerful it is, meaning that there is a limit to the amount of undead that a necromancer can raise at a time and will only being to regain their magic once they are destroyed or are released.   Support: Out of all the Dark Magics, necromancy is often considered the weakest despite the power it holds. Why you might ask, it is mainly because the user can only deal with dead things, maybe they can learn a few spells that may allow them to steal life force or infect someone with some undead diseases, but in the end, it all depends on the undead that they have under their control. This of course has its benefits as having an army of mindless beings can help out along and help protect them from harm and carry out tasks without any backtalk. Allowing them to work fairly well when with problems that a single user cannot handle on their own. Making strength in numbers is the only plausible course of action that they can take as they are essentially getting free labor to do all their work for them.   Control: It takes some effort to try and control so many undead things under one's control as it is far more complex than one might think. It has been discovered that a necromancer shares their mind with the undead they have influence over or at least the mindless ones anyway. As they are unable to act on their own without some influence over them at all times, meaning that without the will of their master they are pretty much unable to do much. This of course has been corrected in some ways as it can be mentally strenuous for them and use certain spells and items to give some autonomy to carry out basic commands. But a constant flow of the user's mind must still be placed into them to properly function.   Sacrifice: The thing about necromancy is that it requires rituals more than other types of magic they want to get something the right way and considering that they are trying to raise the dead it can be difficult to get what they want. These rituals often involve giving up something sometimes being something that is a part of the user or a living thing. In doing so it can allow necromancy to achieve feats that it wouldn't normally do such as creating a certain type of undead or even trying to bind the soul of someone. This can be helpful in many cases as necromancy as access to things from the beyond allowing them to gain an advantage against their living foes that cannot achieve.
