Qualifications

All villagers are expected to help in the defense of the village. However, a villager may only be eligible for the Watch if he or she is at least sixteen, and is not disabled, elderly, or a single parent.

Appointment

Each village has a daily lottery to determine who will serve in the Watch that night. A villager who is otherwise eligible for guard duty may be excluded from the lottery if they are injured, or have recently served a number of nights.

Responsibilities

Guards are required to patrol the village wall and raise the alarm if any breaches are discovered. Guards must fight any monsters who enter the village, and give first aid to anyone who is injured during the fight.
