Appointment

Captains are appointed by a village's council based on their fighting prowess, leadership skills, and personality.

Duties

The Captain decides who is eligible for each night's lottery. He also takes on a command role should a wall breach occur.

Cultural Significance

The Captain is very highly regarded in most villages. He or she is given special privileges and roles during festivals, and can eat first at feasts. Although the Captain is not necessarily a member of the village council, his or her advice is usually highly regarded.
