Misery Bay

Misery Bay is one of the spheres of water orbiting Ul Salvation. It is one of the smaller globes consisting of one volcanic island with a couple attached reefs, a Fallen weed brought over from the Elderrot called Lily Island, and a cluster of rock-like debris called Siren Song. There were no natives to the orb, but a couple clans of merfolk and a tribe of Kua-Toa settled there with the Fishfolk expansion. The merfolk harvested pearls there, while the kua-toa were attracted to the small underwater Ul there. The area received some tourism and adventuring after the legend of Larry Two-Shovels passed through the region. Accursed treasure hunters could still be found there scouring the place for his hidden hoards. Despite that, Misery Bay is still a backwater place.

Geography

Misery Bay is mostly a sphere of water with a system of reefs near the center. Only three bodies of land emerge from the the water. There is Misery Bay proper, a volcanic island with a small trading post town in its only bay. Then there is Siren Song, an archipelago of floating rocks. And finally there is a large flower the size of a small island called Lily Pad Island. It is formed from an invasive species from Elderrot. There are two reefs in Misery Bay, Miserable Reef known for its kua-toa tribes and a small ul of Spring, and the Mermaid Reef, prime pearl and choral farming territory home to the local mermaids.

History

Misery Bay was first settled in the year 1420.
In 1569, a tuthian marble arrived on Misery Bay, which a faction of the kua-toa there began to worship. For a year it had godhood until it was stolen by the Gis Revenus Gojira crime syndicate and the tribe was massacred by their plot.
