Heel and Laughter

Heel and Laughter is one of the three major entertainment troupes of the Veritian Leaf. It was birthed as a pet project early on in the years of expansion by the paraclete of Hah, as the branch of Hah sought to build their entertainment industry. Yet, their free spirit could not fit within the confines of the established church, so it became one of the first recognized independent organization outside the Church of Veritas.
It waned and grew throughout history, dependent much on whether the Hahlian paraclete supported it or not, and wandered the leaf as nomads. In the 11th century, The Heel and Laughter entertainment troupe was led by Constantine Mirth, and was most prominent in the northern portions of the continental leaf, as the southern portion had two strong competing troupes of their own, Neih's Breath and Happy Clappers.
In the 12th century, Heel and Laughter began a mission of renewal of the Dormant Lands though bardic means, hoping to subdue any future Dormant uprisings. It is unknown how succesful this mission was, as none of the Hahlians returned after crossing the Sleeping Miasmas south of Sinfetter.

Structure

As a bardic order, popularity and demand is what is needed to acquire prestige and position in the troupe. But, they endeavor to limit such structure, preferring freedom over order. Thus, they are an unreliable entertainment troupe, coming to town when they feel like it and leaving whenever. They are like a storm, and people are rarely surprised to find bards of this order singing throughout the taverns of the world, even when they are not welcome.

Public Agenda

They seek to enjoy life, and share that joy with the people of the world. They also, more covertly, seek to demolish institutions of slavery whenever they find it for the love of freedom. This at times causes schisms within the order, as they would at times free those who would be better off in chains, such as green dragons. There have been a few cases where their love for freedom backfired, breaking the Heel and Laughter spirit for a season.
