Ralcondray

Ralcondray is a large island located across the Northern Gap. It was the target of a mining venture that ended disastrously--the speculation fleet never returned, and the attempt was abandoned. The crew had fallen victim to a previously unknown disease, reducing the original 450 people to just under one hundred. The survivors established a colony, and within four generations had increased their population to more than 1200. In 2046 Vol, sixty years after the failed venture, the Dancinglight Alcendis Varen reestablished contact with the colony. Although her offer of aid from the Middle Isles was rejected, one of the colony's young adults, Gorles, chose to return with her. Eight years later he met again with Vitgrud's Dancinglight and succeeded in gaining her cooperation. Currently an agreement is in negotiation between Vitgrud and the Allied Isles. If accepted, the agreement will provide for additional personnel and re-establishment of the original mining plans, as well as construction of the longest conduit yet bulit.

Fauna & Flora

Ralcondray is covered almost entirely by temperate rain forest. The largest native creatures are non-sapient predators called graybacks, which present a constant threat to the human colony. There is evidence of a sapience residing on the sea floor not far from the colony, but its exact nature is not known.
