Naydan Canyon

The Naydan Canyon is one of the greatest marvels in all the Land. In it, the river Naydan crosses the Fire Mountains as these turn away eastward. The huge canyon cuts through the whole of this mountain range from the north to the south. The river is a huge, white-foamed torrent as it speeds through that narrow canal, spiked with rocks and half rotten trees. Traversing this canyon by boat is impossible.

Geography

While passing the Fire Mountains, the Naydan river is walled by high precipices on either sides, forcing this major river into a rather narrow canal varying in with between ten and one hundret feet. The massive torrent caused by this has cut deep into the stone over time. Altough its depth has not been measured yet, calculations of the water masses entering the canyon have led to the assimilation that it must be at least a hundret feet deep.
The rock walls that force the water into its course is spiked with sharp rock and many dead trees that the water brought down from the plains. Forced by the water masses onto sheer rock these massive tree trunks remain in place until either a flood sweeps them away or rot weakens them enough for the waer forces to breake them.

Many hundrets of waterfalls are spread over the entirety of the canyon, varying in size and shape. Some of the small stream originating close by and joining the river in the canyon fall over many fundret feet until they reach the main water body. Some smaller streams only reach the bottom as water spray.

Localized Phenomena

One of the most commonly seen phenomena in this canyon are rainbows. Believed by many peoples to be signs of the divine or the games of water sprirts, these are actually caused by the reflection ans shattering of sunlight.

Another phenomena, altough hardly visible, is the shaking of the ground. With the massive amounts of water thundering on rock, whole mountain sides are shook. Smaller stones can often be seen dancing on the ground unil the finally flip over the edge and fall into the river. Those walking close by will feel the constant rumbling of the mountains within their very bones, making them feek shaky and weak. Added to by the immense sound of the breaking and thundering waters, it is a weary place to be, altough its beauty in the sun is a rare sight.
