Arkham city

Districts

Arkham has five districts that make up the city         Underneath Arkham is a vast tunnel network of sewers, catacombs, warehouses, bunkers, maintenance tunnels and more. All these underground structures serve many uses but has created many other issues. All the underground tunnels, chambers and more have become the hiding place of an unknown number of criminals, troglodytes, dire rats, sewer gators, slimes, pukwudgiepus and far more. So many that an industry has formed of mercenary exterminators going to the underground and hunting the creatures. The city pays large amounts of money to keep the population of these creatures under control. The Arkham underground have also become the city's biggest slums where the poorest citizens go live.

Guilds and Factions

As well as city hall there are many guilds that have power in the city.       The city of Arkham has a problem with organized crime that only gets worse as you get into the Arkham underground. But unlike its sister city Miskatonic that has two major crime organizations that at least attempt to keep the violence contained and bloodshed on the streets of

History

Before Arkham city was part of the Union of Eleutheria it was controlled by three factions that fought over control of the territory that was until the Miskatonic security forces arrived. The Miskatonic security forces were able to form an alliance with two of Arkhams controlling factions and with their help formed the Union of Eleutheria.   The cult of the spider Queen: After the Confluence event the cult of the spider Queen emerged to take power in the city. The cult of the spider Queen is a matriarchal society of were spiders that worship the great mother spider and practice acts of ritualistic cannibalism and human sacrifice. How this cult was started or came the Arkham is unknown, but they quickly took control over most of Arkham's underground and the city's theater district. The spider cult turned their territory into a giant spider nest where they worship their Queen, breed giant spiders and collected humans for slaves and food. When the Miskatonic security forces arrived to annex the territory the cult of the spider Queen refused to submit or ally to any other than their own. As such they were enemies of the Misatonic security forces and its allies that were forming the new Union of Eleutheria, unable to hold back there growing enemies the cult of the spider Queen were driven deep underground were they still hide. But deep in the Arkham underground the cult still hides plotting how to rise back to the surface to put all others in their rightful place as slaves and food to spiders.     The Watchdogs: After the confluence when the world was thrown into chaos and all emergency services were overwhelmed many emergency workers unified. The Watchdogs was a paramilitary group that was made up of Pre-conflux police, fire fighters, ambulance EMTs, and national guards that unified into a new organization. The Watchdogs were a well-organized army, operating militia-style receiving and following orders well patrolling their territory. The Watchdogs territory was well-regulated and had very few freedoms but was much safer than most of Arkham. After the Misatonic security forces came to the city the Watchdogs agreed to be annex into the new Union. The Watchdogs later help create the Union's Peacekeepers.     The Bright society: After the confluence when the city was thrown into chaos the Bright society was created to preserve human knowledge. The Bright society was a group that was dedicated to knowledge and to the worship of Kuiper the god of knowledge and understanding, most of the leaders of the group were paladins and clerics of Kuiper. The Bright society's territory was the city's historic district and based them self's out of Arkham's university where they raided other parts of the city to find books, instruction manuals, blueprints of any kind to preserve old world knowledge. After the Miskatonic security forces arrived they initially resisted but on discovery the Miskatonic's paladins worshiped Nimbis and that Nimbis was part of the same pantheon of their god Kuiper the Bright society agreed to join Miskatonic and become part of the new Union. Later on, the Bright society a became big parts of the Union of Eleutheria's scientific and historic research communities and spread the worship of Kuiper further.
