History
A long time ago, an angel rebelled against God and was banished to Hell. He became known as the Devil and was named Satan, Lucifer, amongst other things. Satan and his fallen comrades (now adorned black wings) were now tasked with ruling over Hell, as God had decided it will serve as punishment for unforgivable or unrepented sinners. Satan became the King of Hell and created Demons to do the mundane tasks of tormenting the damned. His fallen brethens established a new paradise in a corner of Hell and continued their mission of getting humans and angels to join their cause. This was how the phrase "the deal with the Devil" was born. Satan would grant wishes, through his fallen angel brethren, and the clients now owe Satan a favor that he or any fallen angel or demands may call in at anytime. After a few millenia, the region of Hell Satan governed had to keep expanding to house all the dammed. Eventually, it became unreasonable to Satan to rule on every decision. Thus, he had the brilliant idea to to split Hell and himself into 7 pieces. Now, the 7 domains of Hell (the Seven Layers) were each ruled by an incarnation of Satan, collectively called the "Seven Princes of Hell" or "Seven Aspects of the Devil". Satan now established Lucifer as the final authority, since Lucifer retained the most holy power when they split. He also employed 2 fallen angels to guard the Gate to Hell to keep angels and mortals out. And in contrast to having Azrael bring the dead to Heaven, Hell's demon would take turn bringing in the dammed.Residents of Hell
