S'igeidí Káa
S'igeidí Káa is one of the islands of the Kaa Shuká archipelago, lying roughly at its center. Small in size, it looms large in the stories of the Tleinataayi, the people from whom most of the Kimutaa first came.
When Kaagúshaan returned from Gunéi Káa preaching apocalypse, many among the Tleinataayi mocked him and dismissed his claims as madness. Those who saw truth in his words were treated as fools, and when they followed their prophet so far as to become Selkies, they were deemed monsters and cast out by their former kin. Kaagúshaan's followers journeyed west to the barren and hostile lands of Kaa Shuká. The Tleinataayi chose to forget them and pay them no more heed, certain they would perish in that desolation.
A few years later, a Tleinataayi whaling ship pursued its prey into the waters of Kaa Shuká. The crew ignored the territorial markers the Kimutaa had raised and failed to perceive the growing hostility that followed their passage. When the ship began to take on water near S'igeidí Káa, they did not at first understand that they had been attacked from below by Kimutaa Selkies, but realization came swiftly.
The Tleinataayi were forced to abandon their vessel and seek refuge on S'igeidí Káa. There, they found the Kimutaa waiting. The outcasts bore deep anger at their former kin and at this intrusion into their new homeland. Like the gods they worshipped, the Kimutaa had become harsh and bitter, and they showed no mercy to their captives. All but one were killed slowly and brutally, their bodies preserved against the hunger of winter.
The sole survivor was blinded and lamed so that he could never sail again nor live without aid. The Kimutaa returned him to S'Chaanee and left him crawling at the edge of a Tleinataayi village, that he might tell his tale and ensure that none would dare test the borders of Kaa Shuká again.
Notable Spirits
The islands of Kaa Shuká lie within the domain of the Shuká Atx'áani, the Harsh Gods, and S'igeidí Káa is no exception. The Atx'áani of this island are bound to the severe aspects of life and survival, and to the qualities that make such survival possible.
The most prominent among them on S'igeidí Káa is X̱'éitlʼcháan, whose name means Persistence Despite. X̱'éitlʼcháan is a god of endurance through pain, through hunger, and through grief. Prayers offered to X̱'éitlʼcháan ask for the strength to walk the next mile through the snow even as one's flesh freezes and dies.
Many of the Kimutaa wear a token dedicated to X̱'éitlʼcháan, and this spirit may be the most frequently invoked member of the Shuká Atx'áani.
Geography
S'igeidí Káa is a roughly rectangular island measuring about 25 miles in length and 24 miles in width. For much of the year, it is surrounded by ice, which at times connects it to neighboring islands.
The interior consists primarily of low hills, with hardy mosses and sedges forming most of the vegetation. Animal life is sparse, limited either to small land creatures or to species that can migrate easily, such as birds and marine mammals.
The small caribou known as the X̱áatg̱un are the largest common land animals on the island. Polar bears occasionally cross the ice and sea to hunt on S'igeidí Káa before moving on.

They were pretty angry about being cast out and then having their remote, harsh home violated. They still are pretty angry.
