Lorekeepers of Foxbridge
The Lorekeepers of Foxbridge are a group of scholars and spies that serve the interests of the Kingdom of Bernicia. They are directly under the command of King Beornric the Shrewd, although Princess Cyneburh is more directly involved in their day to day operations in her position as the Provost of Foxbridge College.
The Lorekeepers are based out of Foxbridge College, the most prestigous academic institution in the Northeastern Region. More specifically, their headquarters are in the library of Foxbridge, which is the second largest library in the Great Ring, exceeded only by the Gwāsa on Shima. The Lorekeepers were founded by Beornric himself during his youth when he was the crown prince. He saw the value in a group that could gather all sorts of information and apply it to the good of the Kingdom. The Lorekeepers experimented with several different structures during the early years of their existence, and have settled into a highly effective structure that makes them one of the most significant intelligence organizations in the world.
One major innovation that has enabled this is the creation of the Librarian of Foxbridge. The Lorekeepers used techniques from the long-defunct Godcrafter's Guild to manifest a genius loci of the library itself. This young god contains all the knowledge the Lorekeepers have collected and has proven invaluable in the collation and analysis of it. The reports prepared by the Librarian have given the Lorekeepers a reputation for near-omniscience in the intelligence community, and has been the direct cause of their inclusion in such organizations as the O le Feagaiga. This has caused the Lorekeepers to become aware of and enmeshed in affairs that are far beyond the purview of most national intelligence organizations, and some members are concerned that this will ultimately overwhelm the core mission of the group. However, the combined forces of the King, Princess Cyneburh, and the Librarian are all in support of the group being involved has served to stifle these protests for the time being.
