Jabal Anjeer
Before the world was, there was the Kalpashayava, the trees which bore all the fruits, and from which all worlds are born. On one branch of the Kalpashayava was a fig, hanging among many other fruits both familiar and strange. When the time came, the fig fell from the tree and burst open, and from it came the Anjeer Tataiya, winged creatures who had been living within the fig. The Anjeer Tataiya took the flesh and juice of the fig and built the entire world from it, and lay their eggs within their creation. These eggs hatched into all the creatures of the land, sea, and air, and over the generations devoured and transformed the flesh of the fig, until it became the islands as they are today. Only one seed of the fig was left untouched, as a sacred memorial to the fruit that was. This seed is the mountain called Jabal Anjeer.
Jabal Anjeer is the highest point on the island of Ajagar. In the Nagari language, it means "Mountain of the Figs". While the slopes of the mountain do have groves of fig trees, the mountain is named for its significance in the creation myths of the Naga, who believe it to be the last remnant of the creation of the world. The mountain is considered holy, as are all the creatures that live upon it, especially the fig trees and the wasps that live within the figs. Consuming the figs of Jabal Anjeer is reserved for holy days only, and the fruit also has a place in the more esoteric applications of Naga Alchemy.
Notable Spirits
The fig wasps that live upon Jabal Anjeer are said to be tiny Devas, who are continuously reincarnated upon the mountainside. The Naga teach that these wasps, who are known as the Anjeer Tataiya, remember the beginning of the world, and know all the secrets lost to history. Studying them is said to reveal truths long forgotten, and if one of the Anjeer Tataiya appear in your dreams, they will deliver a message that is vital to the future of the dreamer.
Geography
Jabal Anjeer has a wide base, but tapers to a very sharp and narrow peak at the top. The peak is almost impossible to reach, and few ever attempt to climb all the way up. The lower slopes are heavily forested, and filled with all kinds of wildlife.
