Age of Warlocks
After the fall of Sange, the Clarati who had dominated the Ynys Archipelago for a thousand years appeared to go mad. They engaged each other in wildly destructive duels of Magic and arms, unleashing armies and monsters in their attempts to destroy each other. These conflicts lasted for years, and the aftermath of their battles persisted for centuries. This period is known as the Age of Warlocks.
In the early days, the Age of Warlocks was primarily centered on the battles between the mages themselves. Several of them were destroyed quickly, in surprise attacks that caught them before their defenses could be fully engaged. The survivors of the first wave of violence prepared themselves for the long and grueling task of dismantling each others' defenses, and the battles that followed were filled with magical weaponry, horrific monsters, and armies compelled to fight by Clarati sorcery.
As the sorcerers slowly ground towards mutual destruction, the people of Ynys rose up in rebellion against them. The rebels had to rely on their cunning and bravery to stand against the Clarati. They used guerrilla tactics, stealth, and surprise attacks to strike at their enemy's weak points. Mercenaries from the Norður Islands, particularly the Volksland islands were brought in to help overthrow the Clarati. Eventually, the rebels' tenacity and the Clarati's internal divisions ultimately led to the sorcerers' defeat.
The Age of Warlocks came to an end in the year 3307, when Solis, the last Clarati sorcerer who held power on the island of Ynys, was killed by Albidosi rebels in the Kingdom of Cait under the command of the Witch of Rheged. This event marked the end of the Clarati, as far as is known.
The Conflict
Outcome
The Age of Warlocks was a time of great upheaval, where many lives were lost, and cities and towns were destroyed. Battles between the Clarati resulted in the weakening of their hold, and their grip on power gradually loosened. The rebellions were able to exploit these weaknesses to overthrow the Clarati who survived these battles. With the fall of the last Clarati sorcerer on Ynys, the Age of Warlocks officially came to an end, but the legacy of the conflict continued to be felt for generations to come. The region was fractured and divided, and many kingdoms have come and gone as the balance of power fluctuates.
Aftermath
The conflict had also left the land in a state of disrepair, and it took decades for cities and towns to be rebuilt and trade routes reestablished. Moreover, the legacy of the Age of Warlocks had a lasting impact on the perception of magic and magic use in the islands, with many people distrustful of any form of magic.
Also, many of the mercenaries who came to fight the battles against the Clarati made their homes permanently on Ynys, forever changing the makeup of the population. Today, more than half the population is descended from these mercenaries, and their language and culture has done much to shape Ynys.
The Fate of the Clarati
