Endamian Dwarvish

"The strongest stones will crumble into dust if you hammer them enough."   ~Red Dwarven proverb

Writing System

The Dwarven alphabet contains 40 characters, including punctuation. These characters appear as runes composed of straight lines, meant for carving in stone or wood. Similar-sounding vowels have similar symbols as well.

Geographical Distribution

It is spoken by all dwarves across Endaman as a form of common language, although there are five separate dialects.

Phonology

The language contains some 25 consonants and 11 vowels, although a couple of dialects have additional sounds or replace these 36 basic sounds with other similar sounds.

Morphology

-Nouns can be singular or plural, along with belonging to one of four genders - these genders correspond to the classical elements of Earth, Water, Fire, and Air - and one of eight cases (nominative, accusative, dative, genitive, ablative, instrumental, locative, or vocative).   -Verbs are conjugated and there are only a handful of tenses, but many exceptions to conjugation rules.

Syntax

Sentences are VSO, with questions being ?VSO, with ? being the asked-for information.
