The Wailing Woods
The land of living nightmares
Hunt of the Blood Moon
The screams of men, women and children fill the bloodstained sky and give the Wailing Wood its name. Considered the most dangerous of the Shadowlands, the Lord Nightmare actively hunts all intruders with his infinite hoard of demons. The City of Twilight
Somewhere within the cursed wood is an ancient city forged by the one once known as the Dreamstrider. This ancient city is the last remnant of the Dreamscape, protected by the holy Werewolves of the Moonlit Watch. The Spire of Phases standing at the center of the city holds an ancient secret so precious that the Watchmen have sacrificed their souls to defend its sanctity from their corrupted Lord.Geography
The Wood is a never ending forest blanketed in the crimson light of a blood-moon. Occasionally one will encounter an abandoned town or even city, locations ripped from the Mortal Realm and held in the dark. These locations are still connected to their earthly counterparts and can be avenues of escape.
Fauna & Flora
Tall dark trees with razor sharp needles that start 10 feet from the ground and small crimson ferns blanket the area thickly, making it difficult to see. The natives are creatures from the nightmares of those poor souls trapped in this accursed realm and Nightmare's own Dread Knights.
Natural Resources
The souls contained within the wood act as a source of power for the Dark Lord of Mercy. Through torture, their worst fears are made real and sent as demons to hunt the mortals unfortunate enough to wander into the Hellscape that blankets the south of the Mainland.

Author's Notes
In a word, the Wailing wood is the realm of terror. The darkest fears of those who enter will reach up to clutch at their hearts and rip them from their chests. This world is designed to strip away courage in the face of an enemy so insurmountable, a fate so horrible, that none could face it without quaking knees.
