Sonnir

Sonnir is the southern ice cap of Jorden. Much like Nordir, the land itself is buried under tens of quadrillions of tons of ice. The difference from Nordir, however, is that a much larger portion of the ice has land over it. Just like on Nordir, the winters can bring about deadly storms of liquid nitrogen rain (sometimes even oxygen at the pole, resulting in more of Jorden's atmosphere spilling in and boiling away the liquid, which creates a perpetual pillar of mist), in which seeking shelter is absolutely vital if you want to survive more than a minute. Despite these deadly conditions, however, life and something of a civilization still manage to thrive on this ice cap.   One of the main upsides of visiting Sonnir is the spectacular view of the auroras. Due to Sonnah's powerful magnetic field, the auroras of Jorden extend far enough to be visible from the equator at night. However, from Sonnir, the auroras appear directly overhead, and extend all the way out to the horizon. For this reason, much of the culture of Sonnir revolves around the auroras.

Geography

Sonnir is a bit less mountainous than Nordir. It is shaped much like a badlands, but with the rocks made of water ice. It seldom snows here, except for dry ice. As with Nordir, there is a perpetual pillar of mist at the pole caused by constantly boiling oxygen rain.

Fauna & Flora

Penguins are the most common creatures on Sonnir, with many species that can even survive rain due to living further south. For this reason, they have many natural predators, as they make for an abundant food supply. The tabaxi tribes on Sonnir hunt penguins not only for food, but for many other resources, using every single body part of the penguin (meat for food, bones for tools and weapons, blubber for insulation, etc.). Other natural predators of penguins include seals, orcas and arctic hawks.

Natural Resources

The main two natural resources from Sonnir are ice and animal products. More recently, trade with Achogon has generated a demand for liquid nitrogen.
