King Eadvard, Third of His Name, Head of House Dillestone and ruler of Banteave, didn't think it would end this way.
His only son and heir, Erick Dillestone, died at sea returning from a trade mission to Dunefalle. His Queen has long since passed from this world, and to drown his grief he's turned to drink, revelry and excess, the result of which is the birth of Mair Dillestone , borne of a passing union between him and her mother Annabeth Risevar . Technically a bastard, Mair represents a semi-legitimate successor to the throne, but the King has been so beset with grief and drink that he has yet to attend to crucial matters of state, including legitimizing Mair or anointing a successor. All he sees around him are toadies and sycophants cozying up to him since the death of his son to try and secure his favour and to push their case for the crown.
