The Crones' Nest (destroyed)

The centre of the Witchhold (former) and where Granny Longtooth placed her throne, this impossibly vast tree could be seen from anywhere in the demi-plane. The Crones' Nest was designed as a hub for convocations of witches and as a place where hags could meet, discuss business and trade all manner of things with each other. Souls were swapped there like bags of coin in the shadowy recesses of Granny's Cottage.   A long rickety walkway of rotting wood spiraled slowly up the outside of the great trunk of the Crones' Nest, allowing visitors to make their way up to the throne room on foot or with wagons of tribute to the queen of the land. Hanging from the far-reaching branches dangled thatched huts like birdhouses - guesthouses in fact for visiting witches to alight on and spend the night, for a fee of course.   At the top of the trunk, nestled among the branches sat Granny's Cottage, her palace of sorts. Before her stone cottage had wandered the world with her allowing her to pick up and run when the situation got too dire. Here though, its final resting place, Granny had set it firmly upon the tree and then worked her magic to expand it. The 'cottage' now stood taller and broader than many longhouses, stretching up and back to give the stone house a castle-like appearance, the door now a towering oaken portal with monstrous skulls as its awning.   The interior was also radically redesigned as well, to that of a great dark hall with chandeliers of green flame and a long, moth-eaten red carpet leading straight to Granny's throne. The throne itself gave the appearance of a giant's ribcage turned inside out (it was), with curved shards of bone protruding out of the heavy stone chair that Granny spent most of her time in when her court was in session. The wings of the hall were frequently shrouded in magical darkness so that hags could sit and observe any outsiders who came to try and barter with the Queen and learn from her ways. Also, cackling voices from the shadowy corners of your vision put almost all visitors on edge.

History

Created when Granny established the Witchhold (former) as her domain, this tree served as the centre of Granny's court for several years until adventurers from Port Ffirst arrived and destroyed it. The souls Granny had used to create the domain had been contained in an artifact in the centre of the tree, and this was ultimately stolen by Langston Farstep, for purposes unknown.
