War of the Woods Campaign Overview

The horns of war are sounded as herds of chaos beasts of the Brightsun Forests move in shambling masses. Within the constant umbra of the Duskwoods, their movements are scarcely seen but only heard. The stomping of thousands of hooves as they move in unison towards their target. Their arrival into the Interstice was one of hardship: their exodus from the realm of light was a necessary step in ensuring their survival from the relentless pursuit of the Lumineth Realmlords who sought to hunt them into extinction. But the herd was strong and their will to live greater than any light magic. Their flight led them to the Interstice, not sure by chance or by plan, but they waste no time in establishing themselves within the realm. Driven by animalistic instincts, they assert their dominance on the lands, conquering mortal towns and cities within the Duskwoods that could not muster the defenses to hold off the warherds; such was the survival of the fittest. Raising idols to their dark gods and drawing others into their expanding herds, they expand their borders until they finally encroach on the lands of a familiar foe.   The Aelves of Avelorn also move to battle, though theirs is of stealth and guile. They lacked the pure numbers of the great warherds, but their skill more than made up for it. The Aelves too struggled to survive in this inhospitable realmscape, though their bonds with the Sylvaneth have allowed them to live in balance here. However, the recent increasing incursions on their lands have tipped the balance and though they feel able to defend their territories, the looming threat of total war worries the Aelven council. The muster their forces together, hoping to hold back the tide of beasts and potentially launching a counter offensive to strike at the heart of the enemy but with their numbers, they feel that looking at external aid will be necessary.   Now others forces and armies march to war here, drawn by either glory or riches. Whether they fight for the great warherd or for the hope of Avelorn, the conflict is due to only escalate further.
