Marijuana (Dabulon Drug and its Effects)
With the arrival of the Dabulons hundreds of years ago, came the arrival of weed, something that had not been found on Terra Firma originally. It is said that the Dabulons cultivated marijuana for decades, changing entire grasslands into pot farms. There was said to be so much weed, that people could smell it from miles. These are just rumors of course, since the arrival of the Dabulons was so long ago, but with the addition of Nigel Thornberry in our party, it seems pretty clear that, yes, that most likely did happen. Nigel, as well as the Dapper Dabber (and presumably all of the Dabulon species), have an affinity to weed, smoking it by blunt, bong, pipe, you name it. It is said that, with the inhalation of the plant, they gain power and strength, as well as healing.
The pot can have effects on others, however. This "alien" plant was never found on Terra Firma prior, and the introduction of it surely had consequences. People who are affected by weed are anyone that has lungs really. The weed can make them extremely lethargic, often very hungry, sometimes wired and hectic. But the effects wear off after time, and rarely cause any real problems.
The Dabulons thrive off of marijuana, often having people consider them as addicted to it. It is unsure if they are or not, based on the fact that their powers come from it, but it is said to have an addictive effect on those who come in contact with it that are not Dabulon.
Transmission & Vectors
The way to be affected by marijuana is by inhaling it or consuming it. It is rumored that you also could "inject the memes into the bloodstream" which is supposedly when someone injects their weed into their veins, causing a faster feeling high and stronger feeling high.
Causes
The cause of the effects of marijuana are unknown to the people of Terra Firma, the chemical compounds of weed have yet to be researched, as it is rare for people outside of the Dabulon to have access to it. It is said that it was first introduced when the Dabulon landed on Terra Firma hundreds of years ago.
Symptoms
Being incredibly lethargic, feeling hungry and consuming lots of food, being wired and hectic, dumb thoughts and ideas that come out of nowhere, sometimes delusions, etc.
Treatment
The effects wear off after a while, faster if the user has a high tolerance.
Prognosis
Anyone who smokes weed will be fine, there are no detrimental effects to those who smoke it (at least known to the populous).
Sequela
Being really hungry and lethargic after the high wears off is common, but there are not often any lasting effects.
Affected Groups
Anyone, young or old, male or female, genetically coded one way or another, can be affected, as long as they have a nervous system and lungs.
Hosts & Carriers
Marijuana is how the effects are caused. Dabulons are the species that have access to it, however.
Prevention
Don't smoke weed or be near a Dabulon who uses it.
Epidemiology
If anyone inhales the smoke, it is possible to feel the effects. It isn't often that people will be introduced to it, but sometimes it is possible. There is no way to transfer it or anything like that.
History
The history of marijuana is the history of the Dabulons. It is said that when they landed on Terra Firma years and years ago, they introduced weed to the fragile ecosystem, causing it to forever change. With the arrival of the Dabulon came the weed.
Cultural Reception
It's seen as a pretty good thing by those who use it, but some people say it's bad. The consensus for most, however, is that it is beneficial. But then again, not many people even know of its existence.
