Hemato-Ophidian (Also Known as a Quilled Ophidian)

-Hemato-Ophidian (Also Known as a Quilled Ophidian) [A rare and VERY dangerous snake that is known to bathe and drink the blood of it's victims. It has hundreds of sharp needle like spines on it's body, with two large spikes on it's head. They thrive off blood, rolling and slithering in it to absorb it's power. They grow very big and start off a very pale white, but as they kill more and more, they become darker and darker, more and more red, absorbing the blood through the spines on its body. It is said that if you see a pure black Hemato-Ophidian (HemO for short), run, because that thing has killed more animals than you could ever imagine and has NEVER lost a fight. Nobody has ever killed one that wasn't pale, but it is theorized that the more blood they absorb, the more their skin is impervious to any attack, except by one of the spike on its head. Hypothetically, if someone were to break a spike off of its head and stab the creature with it, then it would die, but it isn't known definitively. There is an old rhyme when it comes to Hemato-Ophidians. "If it's white, don't let it bite. If it's red, stab it in the head." There is often an addition to that as well. "If it's black, you'll never come back." But very few black ones have been seen, at least by someone who lived to tell the tale.]

Basic Information

Anatomy

Large, 3 feet to 8 foot snake, pale in color when born. They have little spines all over their body, with two large spikes on their head. As they absorb more blood from their victims, they become more and more powerful, and also more and more red in color.

Biological Traits

They are impervious to any attack, but it is theorized that they are able to be penetrated by one of the large spikes on it's head. The more red they are, the stronger and more deadly they are.

Genetics and Reproduction

They have a spine like sex organ they use to reproduce, often ending with the male dying.

Growth Rate & Stages

They start off small, but the more blood they absorb, the stronger, and often, the larger they get.

Ecology and Habitats

Travel and hunt alone, but often sleep in dens with other of their kind. They search for prey to kill and consume, as well as absorb their blood.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They require food and hunt daily. They don't require blood, it just helps them grow stronger and stronger.

Biological Cycle

They live very long. There is no documentation on how long, however, and nobody has ever been able to kill one.

History

Not much is known about their history and their introduction to the world of Terra Firma, but it is believed that they originated from Terra Terrorium, as pets of Yharm in the days of old. That is just a popular rumor and is not certain. All that is known for sure is that you do not want to run into any.
