Dank Magic and its Effects

There are many different types of wild magic in the world of Terra Firma. One that our party has seen multiple times is the mysterious powers of dank magic, something that the Dabulon people are rumored to use. It is said that when the Dabulons landed in Terra Firma many many years ago, that the immense weed they were smoking dissipated into the atmosphere, darkening the sky and changing the molecular structure of the atmosphere forever. Supposedly, this dank in the air is how the Dabulons use their powers, by pulling from the atmosphere, the powers of the weed, allows them to cast wild magic, which causes events that are seemingly impossible to happen. The only two people witnessed to use the dank magic is Nigel Thornberry, the Dabulon in the party, and the Dapper Dabber, the Demon of Swag himself. It is said that only those with strong Dabulon genes can use the power in the atmosphere. The classification of magic wielder that fits the Dapper Dabber is a Meme Lord, someone who has extreme ability in the art of pulling from the atmosphere, and casting dank magic. It is said that he has the ability to choose what the effect of his "dabs" are, the method of casting dank magic. But it still seems to be incredibly random in most instances, causing mayhem and destruction most often, or just confusing the fuck out of everyone.   There are many different things that can happen when casting wild magic. Someone, like Nigel, who isn't extremely skilled and trained in the art of perfecting his magic. In all the cases of his dabs, Nigel had managed to have crazy things happen, which were not at all planned the way he wanted it to go. It's strange how Nigel cannot make things happen the way he wants it to, but it seems that the Dapper Dabber can. It's all about the practice and strength of the dab and the amount of dank energy they can pull. Someone who is a higher level can pull more, allowing them to do whatever they want in the way the want. Nigel is not up to that moment yet.   These magic effects are often unbeknownst to the targets and those around them. Usually, the only person who knows of the effects are those who have the ability to break the 4th wall, like Nigel and the Dapper Dabber. These are the people who know the exact repercussions of their magic casting.   *Some examples of things that can (or have already) happened are:* -Giving random people sex changes instantly and often unwillingly. Having them change gender at the blink of an eye. This is seemingly irreversible. -Causing people to degrade in age when around the person who cast the magic. The amount of time they degrade can be random and irreversible. -Corpses in the nearest graveyard raise to the surface. This is instant and often unknown to anyone, since there is no indication that this happens. -Causing random appearance/accessory changes, like hair color, skin color, etc. -Stealing air in a certain amount of space for a period of time, changing fluids, like water, blood, etc. to stone. Random things like this with no real reason. -Changing water to random different liquids or solid. For example, turning water in a waterskin into roast beef gravy. -Some strange effects that make no sense, for example, giving a skeleton itchy skin. This doesn't make sense but happened anyway. There was really no effect, since skeletons don't have skin. -Strange weather incidents can happen, for example, the next fire lit in the area could cause an intense snowstorm for the next four days. Another example was that rain that was falling turned into nitroglycerin, the next 25 gallons to be exact. This was caused by Nigel during the Battle of Oceania. It could also be something like this, the next fire lit by the caster would turn into an uncontrollable wildfire, fortunately, this did not happen. -Some things can happen to the caster, such as giving themself true dark vision for a certain amount of time. This was one such example that happened to Nigel. Another example of something happening to the caster was when Nigel dabbed and caused oxygen to become violently toxic to him for a short period of time. This almost caused him to die, but he managed to be resuscitated. -Some things can happen to other people, like making them act strangely in weird circumstances. These effects are often unbeknownst to everyone, the person affected and everyone around them. The only person who is aware of these effects is Nigel. One example of these strange conditions is having someone become abnormally silent when fully nude. -Some strange things can happen to enemies, like the skeleton having itchy skin, sometimes random things like, having certain people be unknown of their lying, or having their hands become invisible to themselves. Just random things that make no sense. -Things can happen to weapons or armor, such as the caster's weapon becoming sentient or made of silk or some other strange things. -Structures can be affected as well, such as boats sunken to the bottom of the ocean became solid gold. Things like this are able to happen. -The last, and probably the most strange thing to happen as of this moment from the power of dank magic by Nigel or the Dapper Dabber that has been witnessed or documented is that all cows within one mile, when milked, would give ice cream instead of milk. This was strange, especially since, somehow, Minotaur skeletons were able to suddenly lactate and have the same effect. This made absolutely no sense, but somehow was able to happen. This is the wild power of the dank magic.

Transmission & Vectors

The way that dank magic is used is by those with Dabulon genes, those that are able to pull energy from the atmosphere. It is unknown if anyone else can cast this magic.

Causes

It is unknown. It's said that the dank weed cloud that dissipated into the atmosphere ages and ages ago caused this power to be usable. The Dabulons were able to pull from the atmosphere, and this ability passed down to those who have the same genes.

Symptoms

The ability to dab is how the wild magic gets cast. The symptoms of the wild magic can range from thousands of different things, there are infinite possibilities of what can happen when a Dabulon dabs.

Treatment

There is no treatment for the effects of a dab, unless it is specified exactly that there is one. It is unusual for there to be a way to reverse the effects of a dank magic effect, but theoretically, it is possible.

Prognosis

The effects of dank magic could be anything. All of it is often unusual and makes no sense. The prognosis is, you are fucked if you are the target or the caster. Usually...

Sequela

There are many different things that could happen due to the effects of the dank magic. The chances of reverting back to before a dab is practically impossible.

Affected Groups

Anyone, sometimes everyone. Sometimes animals, creatures, alive or dead, and structures can be affected. Nothing is safe when it comes to dank magic, even the entire world isn't safe.

Hosts & Carriers

The Dabulons are the only ones that are able to cast dank magic.

Prevention

The only prevention is to have a Dabulon not use their dank magic. Knowing the people who are Dabulon, that is impossible. The best thing to do is hope and pray you aren't affected, since most of the effects have bad consequences.

History

There haven't been any real documented cases of dank magic in effect, they tend to devolve into rumors, since most of the effects are unbelievable. It is said that the dank magic could be used on the planet the Dabulons are supposedly from, and that, when they landed on Terra Firma ages ago, the dank weed cloud allowed them to use the dank energy in the air to cast wild magic. It is said that ever since their landing, this has been a possibility, and that dozens upon dozens of strange things has happened because of them.

Cultural Reception

The cultural reception of the dank magic effects can range from disbelief to absolute incoherency. Most of the effects of the magic are absolutely unbelievable and sometimes can cause people to believe those who have witnessed the effects and talked about them are insane. Most cases of witnessed magic are devolved into rumors, or they are just unknown to most or all.
