Qualifications

The only qualification a raider must attain is that they do not need rescuing during their rite of passage into manhood or womanhood. So long as the children, when they are ready between the ages of ten to twelve, pass their trial. They will be inducted into the raiders ranks without preamble.

This trial is their rite of passage into both the guardians of the family, the breadwinners and the potential for higher ranks. The trial consists of the child being able to demonstrate their knowledge that the family has taught them, by surviving for up to a week out in the Ancient Forest without the clan's assistance. Should the child fail in coming back within that time frame, they will be found dead or alive by the raiders and brought back to the clan.

In the event that the child fails and is still alive, they will never be allowed to leave the village without being accompanied by another. They will be protected for the rest of their lives while they learn skills that are not directly related to combat and defense. Trials that are passed as in the case of Illy, are given the rank of Raider and allowed certain privileges within the clan.

Duties

The raiders are expected to defend the clan should the need arise, as well as protect all those deemed useful or worthy to the clan. In this specific case, Caleb Shzym is directly protected by the raiders of the clan after Illy had become friends with him as well as setting up trade with him and the village. The raiders are expected to protect all assets of the clan without question.

They are also responsible for overseeing the hunters of the clan, despite many also being raiders. They will accompany those that didn't pass their trial while they hunt for meat and flora to be used by the clan. Protecting them from potential hazards that may be unseen by the other hunters.
They are expected to conduct effective raids as well as bring back the spoils of war from these raids. Being given orders from their Raid Leader, or acting on their own so long as they think they can do so without problems. Though this may be seen as insubordinate by conventional militaries, the goblins welcome those who see opportunity and act on that ambition. As one way to move up in rank is to do this very act.

They are also expected to teach eachother new skills as well as to the rest of the clan. To continually hone their skills in combat as well as their domestic tasks within the village. Many raiders relish the opportunity away from the violent aspects that their culture demands of them. FInding a sense of peace in their chosen skills, as for Knoll, Cori and Ghet. They enjoy their painting, fishing and historical recounts.

Benefits

The Raiders are given free reign to wander and explore beyond the village. Having proved to Bhal and the Mother and Father that they can take care of themselves, they are trusted to do so.

They are also allowed to interact with the outside world, though many choose to not do so. Out of fear, apprehension, or disinterest is a personal affair to each raider. Many find this to be both a blessing and a curse. To expand one's horizons is to delve deep into the unknown and unfamiliar.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

The only dismissal is death. When one has become a raider to the clan, forever shall they be.
