Aleglsia

From this lifeless chalice of potential, to fill with the sweet wine of actualization. Where existed naught but the challenges yet to be seen, to see the fruits of our efforts. Grow, for that seat is only warmed by your presence, benefiting no other soul but one. Stand, and step forward, fill that chalice. For not only your lips shall taste its sweet sirens song, rise as each chalice rises with yours.   ~Popular verse in the Faith of the Fae, they are fond of this as a way of motivating the others when morale is low. Take this bitter fruit, and they will make it better.

Geography

Aleglsia is home to the proverbial jewel of nature, much of the continent is a vast orchard of fruiting trees, nuts, and moss. A large portion of the Children's food is grown here. While one would be pressed to understand this place as an orchard, as it spans several different biomes to cater to the needs of each species. This is a relatively easy task for the Fae and the Faeries to control. The Fae having built vast networks to collect the bounty of their garden, one would never see them. As the stones beneath the forest are covered in runes and contracts that capture or teleport the falling ripe fruit back to one of the Operations for processing and distribution. There is a tribute harvest meant for the wildlife to survive off, though their populations are controlled as well by the Faerie Hunters. Their bodies holding much more value to them, as meat is a somewhat scarce food source for the inhabitants of the Elsewhere.

The Northern Reach

The northern "coasts" of the continent are penned off in large rolling hills that rise high enough to segregate the vast Oak and walnut forests. Though here venison is plentiful as they grow fat off the harvest given to them by the Children. Every animal that may be found in natural environments can be found here, though, with a disconcerting regularity. As all fauna populations are dispersed evenly to deter legitimate competition that would introduce waste into the cycles built by the Children. A hunter's wildest dream fulfilled in this haven, though even a master of the hunt would grow disinterested after a time, for nothing is a challenge in these woods. The only predators to exist, are the Children themselves.

The East Filter

The eastern "coast" of the continent is dominated by a new species of Mangrove forest. One purpose built to ease the amount of work away from Alnya. These trees function as a vast filter network for the Outer Dark, controlling the errent magic that flows from all life forms, easing it back into a more controllable form. A cable network webbing it's way underneath the swamp channels that power back to the Operations and uniquely, a direct cable to the Tower of Alnya. Built by her request, she has only hinted at the fact that she likely is controlling much more of the systems inside the Network, for an unknown reason. Though, this forest functions a migratory spot for many of the song birds that flitter from the continents. Much of this swamp is home to nothing except medicinal plants, lichen, and fungi, most herbivorous life is not allowed inside the Filter. Either to feed the Children, or to keep them penned in to their designated biomes.

The Heartland

An orchard that would rival the heavens own constellations. Name a fruit, it exists here, naturally or no. Think of a delicacy, several more you'd never imagine thrive under that loving hands of the Faeries. This forest was cultivated almost entirely by the Children of Syn who longed to taste the food of their home worlds once more. As most fruit baring trees have been domesticated or engineered by the Faeries over time, they had become arboreal masters of this realm of horticulture. This forest is the only one to have actual production facilities on the entire continent, though they serve several functions. This is the only Operation that isn't on Wythr, Erica, and Tel-merdas, and serves as the control center for all processes on the landmass.   The Orchard is home to a truly mesmerizing amount of fauna, everything from bats to roe deer, from reptiles to massive behemoth Maga-fauna resurrected from the genetic history of the many worlds the Children once live upon. These animals exist to serve one purpose, as with the swarms of bees and wasps, polinate the trees. They disperse the seeds so that it frees additional manpower and resources for managing each of the Crop Zones. Occasionally, the Faeries must maintain balance of the forest and cull great swathes of the Fauna to ensure efficient and sustained maintenance of the forests. Fret naught, their lives are celebrated by the Children, as a circle of Druids has sprung up to honor them. The Circle being a conglomerate of all the Children, though Kyln, may he rest in peace, would have been pleased with this turn of events. To call it one orchard would be misleading, quite literally millions of micro orchards are maintained simultaneously, their environments carefully controlled.

The South-Western Bread Basket

Vast rolling hills of ancient grains, wheat, barely, millet, and various other grains span as far as the eye can see. This vast meadow is one of the least watched environments the Children had built, hardly needing any sort of tending to, as even the fauna that have taken residence here almost always congregate around the tribute Circles and leave the crop alone for the most part. Though, the Children to actively encourage the herds of Bison, Goat, and several species of plains dwelling mega-reptiles to do as they please. As in their natural environments, their presence increases yields. Though these aforementioned species are contained to planes that require fallowing. As with all the Crop Zones, the ripe foodstuffs is dealt with through magic. Grains vanishing from the stalks and stems with the passing breeze to appear in the Operations. The Great Herds in a constant cycle of population control.

Ecosystem

HaHA! To say this place has an ecosystem would be a grand thing indeed! But, no. There is no system that isn't controled down to finest detail by the Children. Where one sees rain, the Children made it so. Where one sees new life in the nests of the birds and squirrels, the Children see pollinators and seed dispersers. Where one sees the wind wafting through the trees, the Children see a need to maintain some semblance of their old world. The rain, the water, the leaves that fall with each harvest, the quieting of the wood as the Children harvest the lives of the life that reside there, the erosion, the wind, the lightning and storms. They are all maintained by the Children. There is no ecosystem beyond a complicated garden built to serve the purpose of feeding those who were lucky enough to be saved.   Ah, I shouldn't make it seem as if this place is a manicured palatial flowerbed, or that there pipes and cables hanging from every branch. No, a beautiful forest they had made, a vast network that boggles the mind. Should you find yourself here without permission, one would call it a world unspoiled by the hands of mortal minds. An Edin without the concept of sin. I am proud of them, for what they have built. The turned dirty water to sweet wine. They made the lifeless chalice drip with the fruits of their labor, all for the collective, all to ensure that there is no suffering in their cities. All to ensure that, one day, they may return home...   ~The Imperial Scholar
