Unique Locations in

Nuka City

Aasir's Roadhouse Bar

A hive of trade and indulgence where the common traveler is welcomed at the table of the merchant elite. Brash or rude behavior is not tolerated and anyone disturbing the peace will get a swift rebuke from the Founder who claims ownership of the establishment. Well-spoken and slow to temper, the large man is still not to be trifled with.

Those looking for work or opportunity often end up at Aasir's. Although bounty boards are not allowed, approved freelance work can be obtained from one of the bartenders. Anyone caught recruiting mercenaries without going through Aasir can face harsh punishments after a past incident caused two groups to go to war in the streets. Not only does this deter another uprising, it also gives Nuka City a chance to take their cut..

West's Ruin Hunters

Owned by the ghoul that originally planned out the excavation of Nuka City, this stall offers an assortment of supplies designed to make scavenging the many ruins outside the walls a little easier. With an inventory focused on cracking pre-war security and taking down groups of raiders from long range, those that prefer to work alone can find plenty of devices to help keep them hidden from prying eyes. Not especially cheap, one should expect to spend some caps for the rarity and quality of goods.

Map coordinates and drawings can be found here as well, with some choosing to simply make their living through cartography. A working Pipboy can earn a traveler a tidy profit if they are comfortable uploading their data. Each new local location can net someone anywhere from five to a hundred caps.

Foster's Fine Dining

Run by one of his three wives, (each about a third his age), this roadside eatery is the main attraction in Nuka City. Although the Vending Market lies just next door and several other businesses in the city limits sell food, Foster's recipes are legendary for not only taste but also nutrition. Taking many notes from early colonial life in America, the signature drink is an egg nogg mixed with rum that he heats into a frothing brew with a red-hot poker.

An avid hunter in his day, he now employs a team of poachers that comb the territory in search of meat to sell. There are also rumors of an underground farm that is used to help supplement demands, though only the regular stock of chicken eggs gives any evidence to these claims.

Murdoc's Fuel and Feed

A necessary but quite unpleasant part of the settlement, this station not only feeds and takes care of pack animals, but also converts their feces into a fuel source. Once the extraction process is done, the refined product retains a more chemical smell similar to gasoline, however it is this transition that causes the most upheaval. Vehicles that need repaired can also be serviced here, however this is almost exclusively reserved for the Founders and their subordinates.

Although most merchants were pushed out of this side of town due to the smell, others were all too happy to take advantage of the undesired real estate. This is how the Unity Complex came to be inside the walls, as well as the Foreign Quarter that is designed to allow merchants a safe place to spend the night.

Fort Fairfax

Originally a long-term parking garage beside the main train station, this large concrete structure now serves as a stronghold maintained by the Founders. More specifically run by Ellia, her last name is commonly associated with the Fort in its title for simplicity's sake. It houses the majority of the motor pool and underground stables for the giant molerat population.

Rumored to have a secret connection to the metro as well as a few other underground tunnel systems, it makes a perfect bunker in the event of a crisis. Those that have managed a peek inside tell tales of a glowing blue arsenal that is kept locked away in the event of a siege..

The Unity Complex

A recent addition to Nuka City, this safe haven for mutants has been met with mixed feelings since its inception. Although designed to help the genetic outcasts of the region, it is also home to quite a few humans that were rejected by society as well. With jobs ranging from humanitarianism outreach programs providing clean water and food to those in need to preaching the message of their religion, many find the conditions here to be much better than outside the city walls at night.

Abraham is allowed to run a simple trading stall outside the main entrance for any that wish to stop by and take a look at his wares. His stock is typically humble, although seasoned traders make a point to pay him a visit when they are in town since his kind are known for simply strolling through radiation to collect rare goods and materials that are otherwise inaccessible to normal humans.

The Foreign Quarter

Leased to a probationary, non-Founder member of the Nuka City Council, this plot of land is being used as an experimental motel for traveling merchants. Those with enough supplies of their own to protect are trusted to stay the night within the walls so long as they don't leave their rooms and of course, pay a hefty fee. Room service will periodically check to empty waste receptacles and fulfill requests submitted through notes left at the dropbox.

With Murdoc's Fuel and Feed next door, this is not the most desirable location to be spending one's time. Wealthy traders prefer it however to spending a night in the surrounding ruins where the risk of running into raiders at night is almost guaranteed.

The Train Station and Vending Market

Although the main station is strictly off limits to anyone but the Founders and their automatons, guests can enjoy a variety of vending goods from the machines that are positioned at the entrance. The biggest drawback for most is that the pre-war devices will only accept currency from their time in history, creating quite the demand for something used as toilet paper in much of the rest of wasteland. The treats and sodas are always fresh and do not contain radiation, a mystery in and of itself that leaves many to speculate as to their true nature.

A strict curfew and laws banning outsiders from wandering around has not prevented people with observing a few oddities during the nights that circulate as whispered rumors. Not only has no one ever seen one of the vending machines stocked, but when the robotic servitors come out at night to do inspections and maintenance, it does not seem like they answer directly to the Founders..

Rick and Sons'- Supplies to Guns

Partnered with Aasir, Rick Peterson and his seven sons run the two main trading booths in the Nuka City square. At one end ballistic firearms and ammunition are sold, while on the other technical texts and salvaged components are offered. Sharp hagglers, the prices are set firm in caps, however trading is where they can exploit the most wiggle room in value.

With their father often spending his days and nights as Aasir's Bar, the sons are left to protect the family business and reputation. They do so with an iron fist, often executing theives on the spot and personally checking each weapon they sell to ensure its reliability. While murder is frowned upon by the Founder's, they do little to enforce their 'rule of exile' as the fear of these occasional incidents keep visitors in check when they are browsing the markets.

Roach's Guns and Don's Keepsakes

Although the two couldn't be more different, these brothers are forced to work together under a contract written up with Aasir to sell their wares. The man who calls himself 'Roach' lives inside a cramped non-functioning tank and markets high-end energy weaponry, while his well-mannered brother Don keeps a stock of magazines, toys, and other junk to sell as souvenirs or distractions to the 'upper class' of Nuka City.

Finding that their arguments were driving off business, and worse, annoying their benefactor, the two often get back at each other in passive aggressive ways. It is not uncommon to witness one of these pointless competitions, such as last week when they wanted to see who could stack the highest monument of tin cans next to their store.

Medical Outpost

Hired by Liam West to help keep the growing number of citizens more at ease, this team of doctors comes from the far west. Stranded like so many others in the sandstorms that plague the region, they ended up needing a place to settle down to survive the harsh climate inside the Dust Bowl. Permanent residents and those with a visa enjoy free medical exams and treatments, however outsiders can expect to pay a heavy fee for needing fixed up.

Once a part of a more altruistic organization, it seems the nature of the environment changed their opinions after spending quality time in the area. They tend to get offended if anyone becomes too interested in their past, especially when it comes to them obtaining their knowledge on medical procedures.

Trader Town

Traders with lifetime visas and their extended families live in this section of the city. Considerably nicer than staying temporarily at the Foreign Quarter, those that prove their worth as a trusted earner for Nuka City are selected for this honor. Although a hefty tax is put on all their profits, they are not charged any static rate for existing, nor are their families. This protects them from exile in the event of a financial crisis and even entitles them to several free meals a day at Foster's Fine Dining.

Residents also in turn generate some electricity from their windmills and collect water from the air with special condensers. These resources are hardly enough to go around amongst their own community, however some is always offered back to the Founders as a token of respect.
