Murdoc Character in The Great Dust Bowl | World Anvil

Murdoc

A man of few words, no one really know where he comes from besides the vague direction he will point when asked. One of the rare people that can rear Giant Molerats, his skills in wrangling the caravan that originally set out to Nuka City was vital to its founding. Now in charge of keeping the pack animals happy and healthy, he has adapted their manure into a fuel source for those that don't mind the smell.

Constantly vigilant and always on the move, it was only natural that he also took up a position running the local militia from the ruined parking garage next to the train station. Maintaining a small motor pool and training the volunteer police officers, he deters most crimes from ever taking place as the consequences of exile are almost certainly death without proper provisions. Usually accompanied by at least two of his giant pets, it is not uncommon for travelers to encounter Murdoc far outside the city as he watches newcomers for potential risks.

Most people notice a hard-to-place accent when the man does speak, those especially educated or in possession of pre-war holotapes might even has an idea of where it comes from. With his people long in decline before the war they were still the only Native Americans to never sign a peace treaty with the government that claimed their lands as their own. Proud and fierce, the Comanche live on in the Great Dust Bowl in scattered tribes, looking for a way to finally turn the tide and thrive on their homeland like the ancestors of their antiquity. Although separated from his people long ago, Murdoc has retained his early allegiances despite having taken on a name and identity to better blend into the people around him.
