Session 07: A Mysterious King, The Crown, The Heart and The Spirit World!

General Summary

A Mysterious King
The session began with you all entering a strangely dark room with only a single chandelier illuminating a small portion of the area. Within this dimly lit area you saw a tall throne with a robed figure seated and facing away from you. Everyone but Hysteria entered, claiming that they stayed behind to keep the door open.   Kaswink and Namina led the charge, though Namina reached the Throne and gently touched it hoping to connect with the figure sitting there as their aura was mostly nonexistent. As she reached him he braced his frail frame and turned to make eye contact with her. At this time she was able to see that his eyes were incredibly clouded over, most likely blind, and a hand which looked to be literally just skin and bones extended to point towards another dark area of the room. Here you saw another light suddenly appear and reveal a crown.   This crown appeared to be made of some matte, grey substance with shifting tones of grey cascading over the entire object. The crown was fairly intricate, and the front center portion had the appearance of flames licking up into the air despite it still having no glow or shine to it. Kaswink investigated this crown and found the portions that constantly rose up and disappeared into the air were just as solid as the rest of the crown, and that it was incredibly heavy.   She offered the crown to Frode after some of the party objected to returning it to the supposed King. Many questions were asked and it was apparent that he was "not the king of this place" and that he seemed to have very little recollection of just about anything. Frode seemed disinterested in a man that was not king of his immediate vicinity, however, and handed the crown to Agave who seemed interested in investigating it. The crown seemed to be made of some type of stone, Phyllite, and with that some more information was obtained.   Unsure of who the crown belongs to, and not wanting to trigger whatever horrible event it might cause by giving it to the man, the party began discussing their next moves. Hysteria had a brief conversation with the man on the throne and discovered a connection, possibly to their past which has not been revealed entirely. Within Hysteria's mind the man demanded his crown and provided some more information which seemed to suggest that he simply can't remember previous events. Particularly that he "does not have memories from before this place". Hysteria conveyed this information to DAN and Namina through sign language, and DAN conversed with themselves about how to proceed.
The Crown
Meanwhile, Kaswink managed to retrieve the crown from Agave and tried it on.   After placing the crown upon her head, Kaswink slowly lost vision as the entire room became black. As her sight returned to her, however, she found that she was no longer in the room with the others and was instead seeing a cliff before her that dropped off over some insanely high point with clouds visible below. As she attempted to get a good look around, almost instinctively, she found that as her vision turned upward she began to feel an intense pain.

She saw the throne from the room, though rather than the decrepit man sitting in it, she saw a centipede crawling around it.
Within the room with the others she was forced to her knees. The crown fell from her head and she was able to see again, albeit through blurry, tear filled eyes. Kaswink immediately began to explain what she saw at the expense of her own sanity and experienced even more pain as she again collapsed to the ground this time unconscious.
Deciding that the crown is clearly dangerous, the rest of you left the room to get Kaswink to a safe place to rest while Hysteria stayed behind. Namina, sensing something was amiss, stopped to check in on Hysteria who insisted, quite aggressively, that she should join the others.   Meanwhile, Agave decided to go check in on the other two since they seemed to be quite a ways behind. He ran into Namina on the way back and learned that Hysteria needed some alone time with the mysterious figure. Agave went back to the candle room with the others while Namina stayed in the hall to keep an eye on things.   Meanwhile, Hysteria had a lengthy conversation with this man almost entirely within their head. Hysteria, convinced that it is the right thing to do for a multitude of reasons, elected to place the crown upon the man's head, however, the man seemed to be rejecting or abandoning Hysteria as he constantly faced away from them despite Hysteria's desire to help him.   Hysteria, hoping to earn favor once more, asked what could be done and offered to go back to their area of the maze. They learned that they wouldn't be able to go back to Hysteria's hallway even if they wanted to. The man suggested that there is no way back.   Hysteria was finally able to see the man's face again, and placed the crown upon his head. At this point the king began to rise up from his throne, and as he did he become younger and took on a skin tone that was similar to Hysteria's own blue-grey before vanishing along with the rest of the room as it was cast fully into darkness. A soft *click* could be heard as a door swung open. The only visible light in this room now a doorway leading to another area of the maze.
Namina, hearing some of the sounds that came from this conversation, decided to investigate after the room became fully dark. As she entered she saw that, as described, the room was impossible to see in. Even the light from the nearby doorway could not pass through and she had to find Hysteria through sound alone.   Hysteria explained, through some form of incredibly advanced "elven touch-sign language" that there is no way back per the king and they decided to press on into the new mysterious area.
Meanwhile! Frode, DAN and Agave had a lengthy and insightful conversation about life, this maze, and finding your purpose through it all. After some time and some delightful food, DAN left to see how everything is doing. Frode and Agave continued their conversation while Kaswink rested nearby, slowly transforming into a rather shocking form.   DAN found the darkened room and also passed through the illuminated doorway. Here they saw that Hysteria and Namina were sneaking along one of the six blood filled canals that were channeling their viscous cargo into a pool of blood at the center of the room. They quickly called out to their friends hoping to learn of what they had found. The two of them shushed DAN and insisted they be quiet.   Dejected, and wanting to converse about what's going on or what to do, or to just go join the others, DAN went back into the room of darkness and began practicing their juggling by hurling picks at a nearby wall that they found.   Not wanting to risk an inability to return, and feeling drawn to the center of the room, Namina and Hysteria continued pressing forward to investigate the blood pool.
The Heart
In the other room, conversation was plentiful and Kaswink eventually woke up feeling refreshed. She insisted that the three of them go to meet with the others and they all quickly left for the blood room.   Meanwhile, Hysteria and Namina had begun to experiment with the blood. Namina began communicating with it spiritually, while Hysteria began dropping ball bearings into the pool. The first one they dropped in caused an incredibly tiny hand to reach out and search for whatever dropped it. Finding this amusing they dropped another and saw a plethora of tiny hands reaching from the pool and the canals. Hysteria decided to test this and threw a ball bearing through one of the tiny hands causing it and all the others to retract.   Shortly after this a much larger hand and arm, larger than Hysteria, reached out of the pool. Namina continued her conversation with the being deep within, and outside of this trance Hysteria watched as a second massive arm reached out of the pool and began to push upon the ground hoping to free the rest of the body. Namina was able to make a stable connection, however, and began stalling until the rest of the group was able to catch up.   Thankfully, Kaswink had awoken by this time and DAN had also heard the cacophony inside the dark chamber that they were still in.
The rest of the group entered this blood room and Kaswink immediately took a defensive position and instructed Hysteria and Namina to get back. They complied and the group began hatching a plan.   The creature freed itself entirely, and in so doing revealed a ring of runes and several overlapping spirals leading to the center of the pool. Agave noticed this and pointed it out, hoping to utilize it to escape this horrific creature and maze.   With the help of Agave's magic, they were able to create a large enough space within the pool and the creature to dive through into a portal located beneath it. However, Kaswink was once again injured holding the line so that DAN could get through. Thankfully DAN was able to tackle her into the portal as you all escaped.
The Spirit World
Within the portal, you all felt the turbulence of this horrendous and infinite vortex as it pulled you from side to side. Its current causing feelings of nausea coupled with the awful feeling of blood, and the very high chance of drowning.   However, most of you held strong and resisted with only Namina succumbing to these forces and passing out just before arriving on the other side.   The blood that was covering your eyes (and a great deal of the rest of you) dripped away, quickly removing itself from your body as it slid onto the ground. Some remained upon your corneas but you instinctively wiped it away to see one of your comrades lying about mostly unmoving though still alive.   You saw that you were on a path...and that the sun, though obscured by beige-pink clouds, was up and shining the lovely light of day upon you, gently illuminating this new world you’ve found yourselves in as beams of sunlight managed to pierce through the cumulus pinkish-beige clouds.   The childlike wonder and joy that this inspired was quickly cut short as you were not only reminded of your objectives but of your injured companion. You saw Namina was propped up sideways against a nearby tree with garishly saturated blue and green leaves.   Agave managed to get Namina stable, and that almost childlike sense of wonder returned as you realized that a lot of what you’re seeing are things you’ve seen for the very first time. A rather unusual sense of pure joy overcame you…though it was dampered significantly by the exhaustion brought about by the until-recently unrelenting journey through the maze.   Grass of all sorts of colors was sprouting up tall out of the ground, and flowery bushes lined the path you’re currently on. To either side of you was a forest that the path seemed to run down the middle of. You didn't see any immediate signs of intelligent life in this pristine place besides your own friends, but you did hear the sound of an ax slowly chopping away at wood in the distance.   The smell of blood slowly faded from your nostrils and was swiftly replaced with an incredibly aromatic collection of flowers from the plants around you. Your eyes were immediately drawn to various unusual plants nearby and a flock of green birds with vibrant, multi-colored tail feathers flew over the path from one side of the forest to the other.
