DAN Wildcloak

History:
DAN first met the party in Voldaren while traveling through to the expedition camp as they were arrested for appearing suspicious.   Within the expedition party they are a Botanist.
In the abandoned goblin village in Garlem, DAN was the first to find the sword and recently disturbed earth that led the party to the cavernous roots.   Within the thick cavernous roots that the party explored to find something ancient, DAN was able to distract and manipulate enemies throughout combat to keep the party in a winning position against the tree's defenses.
Inside the maze they encountered a projection of their brother Steve which twisted and contorted as DAN grew closer...recognizing this for what it was DAN was able to avoid the desire trap and continue through the maze with the party.   DAN was the one that found a solution to the strange hallway so that they could eventually save their friends from the perilous cage trap.   Throughout the maze DAN and Frode's friendship has begun to grow as DAN has provided numerous insights into Frode's, as well as their other comrade's, experiences with hopes of easing their new friend's fears. DAN was the last one through the portal to The Gates, but was able to tackle Kaswink along the way and save them both from certain peril.
Upon entering The Gates, DAN spent some of their time searching for plants to help keep Namina from drying out and to help keep Frode's arm secured. They have been identifying and collecting plants throughout the journey, several of which may prove useful in days to come.   They were introduced to a particularly useful plant thanks to Croak, and found some vegetables which proved useful in the party's dinner their second night in the Spirit World.
While dealing with the events involving The Spirit of Christmas, DAN was transformed into a trio of chirstmas elf ornaments, each wearing a different colored shirt and hat, with David at the top in a red hat. The three of them were covered with a santa coat thus cementing their disguise once more.   DAN was able to provide the requisit number of scritches to tame and lure one of the Hot Cocoa Mug Teacup Peppermint Dragon's to be their new traveling companion. This dragon has taken up residence inside DAN's coat.
During their Downtime between Nurend 06-12, DAN was able to spend a great deal of time cataloguing and studying new plants while cultivating crops for future sustenance. They worked with Agave and Namina during this time, and also helped with building the cabin providing engineer knowhow.   One of the Ginseng teas that they brewed during their downtime was essential for Namina to make a more powerful talisman and defend the Expedition Base against rude spirits. This Talisman also later helped them recove the Unusual Fragment.
While in The Hidden Village of Mothlights, DAN spent some of their time juggling to entertain the Mothlings. This provided social benefits to the rest of the Spiritual Travelers during their efforts to communicate with the mothlings, and it also earned them some neat trinkets and silk.   While in this village, DAN also discovered Tympi's Journal, a valuable piece of writing providing a glimpse into Tympi's past.
When the party encountered the Page of Swords, DAN decided to disguise themselves as a tree. While the Page saw right through this disguise due to their experience in botanical disguises, they did not see through DAN's more important disguise. Additionally, while it may not be apparent to DAN, the Page did enjoy the disguise and it may have helped win them over when initializing the conversation.
While Traveling through the Swamp, DAN utilized their quick-thinking abilities to save their friends on more than one occassion. They saved Agave from the Rain Spirit, Uisge using performance to not only distract the spirit but to also drag Agave away from the danger. They also saved Hysteria from certain death by dragging them away from some Creeping Death and into Namina's spell to help cleanse the moss from Hysteria's body.   Their sacrifice while fighting the Death Blossoms also saved their group of friends from a far more lengthy battle as they fearlessly cut into the plant multiple times while taking a great deal of poison into themselves and eventually getting swallowed.
While in Dorchar DAN traded away all of their ginseng to repair their magical pickaxes as well as acquire new throwing axes. They had their Swamp Fever cured by Hysteria, however, it didn't work very well the first time around. The cure was tried again while traveling back to the Mothlights, and they have since had no issue with the illness.   Back at the Mothlights, DAN visited the Sylvan Library with the rest of the Spiritual Travelers. They found some information about Spirals, a book called Following Spalsis on the 10th floor, and spent some time digging through the ground and creating a "Sky Hole".
While in Drimures, DAN spent some time investigating the town as AND, and was also an essential part of Agave's plan to get information from the Inn. While distracting the innkeep, they also witnessed some horrific events involving an apple full of nasty juice.   While debating on how to proceed with the obelisk, DAN believed that putting the party and others at risk for a single person was a bad idea, but they were eventually swayed towards summoning the spirit.
Outside Thera Relovut, DAN saw something moving in the swamp, but ended up staying behind with Frode while Agave and Kaswink risked the wilds.   DAN built a healing hut to help cure the Myotlings that were afflicted with fear from the Unblinking Sein.
When the party was hoping to interrogate Quince at the Gate Camp, DAN helped secure a medical tent and provided a distracting performance for the reset of the tourists/workers. They were the closest person to the gate when it exploded.   They helped research why the gate exploded with Namina, and was able to grab and attack the strange pillar of ...whatever the heck that was. They ended up passing out from their experiences from this, and were unconscious during the tea party.
While the Spiritual Travelers were dealing with the Whendigo, DAN seemed to be the most suspicious of the old fool, Horace, and kept a constant eye on him during the encounter. This proved quite insightful as this old man ended up being the very Whendigo they were looking for.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

DAN has been provided two different poultices for their Swamp Fever. Their symptoms are currently under control with no sign of a fever and even the pain in their feet has subsided.

Body Features

DAN is a rather tall, completely normal looking human man in a trench coat. He has brown hair and and wields a pair of warpicks, or handaxes, or perhaps all four...it's really quite impressive what a talented juggler can do!
Description 2, unlocked at the start of the maze: At the beginning of the maze, DAN unlocked his alternative form: them. This form of DAN reveals their true identity: three halflings in a trench coat. It is now apparent that David, the face of this organization, leads his two brothers: Anthony and Nicholas. His brothers have a similar appearance as David, though the middle brother, Anthony, does have a great big bushy beard which gives him quite the edge while the bottom brother, Nicholas, is slightly more stout than the other two rounding off the triad.

Special abilities

DAN has the incredible ability to not only juggle, but to juggle between three people standing on top of each other's shoulders. This skill is further outshined with their ability to utilize their juggling in a multitude of ways in combat, and to diffuse situations.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Not much is known about DAN yet, besides the fact that they have performed in many locations as a juggler. It is currently unknown where their hometown might be, however the Circus that they travel with crossed paths with Hysteria at some point.   Additionally, it is known that they are in the Spirit World on a mission to find their brother: Steve.   Throughout their time with the party so far they have demonstrated immense skill in juggling, fighting, and incorporating the two of them into a unique and helpful style. Their, quite literally, multi-faceted personality provides keen insight at certain moments of discord to hopefully keep the party together and moving forward.
Croak gave DAN some ginseng the night they met. This may prove to be a powerful motivator, at least for a third of them. They also discovered a species of plants that produces various types of coffee, ready to drink, fresh off the ...tree.
Their Candlelight Thought, which they provided to the Winter Hart, was something quite different from the rest of the Spiritual Travelers. Their unique situation creating a complicated experience to add to the Hart.   Each one of the three received a smaller light (as if they're divided amongst them):
  • Dave has his thoughts looming on the current situation that everyone is in, having some warm feeling, but a twinge of doubt flickers on his mind: "Is this peace actually peace?".
  • Anthony, being in a new environment that is ever changing, is simultaneously curious and in awe, yet also worried: "Everything is changing so fast... what if things never get back to normal?".
  • Nicholas, being ever vigilant on the others while somewhat enjoying the weight on his shoulders, now begins to feel a sense of insecurity:"What if I can't do it? What if I can't support them like they've supported me?"
All of these doubts start to make the lights in their hands flicker, until all three thought the same thing: "What would Steve do?", and in that moment the lights in all three of their hands shone and they coalesced into one light, and in that singular moment all three could've sworn that he was there watching them, and they felt warmth like he was there.
When fighting The Unblinking Sein, DAN saw their friends transform into distorted versions of their brother, Steve, and they ended up being afraid of not just the darkness, but all of their friends as well.
While in the Wheredigo dream, DAN played the part of the Caterpillar. They ate leaves, but found that anytime they tried to eat directly from a plant it caused pain...and this may have scarred Anthony a little bit.
DAN's brother, Steve, came up during the Tea Party. They received a vision of their brother at the center of the same farm they saw in the Outhouse, but instead of the farmhouses it had a massive obelisk or monolith or whatever. This monolith was covered in chains, and at its base was a throne with more chains and Steve curled up in an upright fetal position, screaming.   Their brother is part of Namina's quest to restore the Cycle.
Spirals
DAN was provided a bit of information about how to find their brother, Steve, while speaking with Ilven during a peculiar carriage ride.   "If you’ve been through the forests you’ve likely heard the song of The Twisting Stumps. Horrible spirits, those stumps. If you are able to hold a tea party for them you could appease their spirits and open their gate. Issue is that you’ll need place settings for all of them, tea prepared to their liking, candles made from the twisting fat of a Twisted Hag, incense made from the twisting bark and resin of a particular tree that you can only find while in an altered mental state known only to the Fruit Hags, and lots of time and patience to be able to get through this whole ordeal while listening to their song."   Other than this method, there are two other ways to get into The Spiraling Gate. The first would be to be in such a dreadful state of mind that the gate takes you away, the other is to be at the Slow Gyre Lake when it actually has a Slow Gyre formed.
DAN found another clue about Steve while they were out looking for an outhouse in Pluarsh ec Relovut while the Spiritual Travelers were waiting for night to fall near Lemostodrensa. DAN heard cries for help which sounded like their brother, and as they approached the unusual sight of an outhouse, the exact thing they were looking for, these cries for help turned into screams of agony before abruptly cutting out as they reached the door.   On the otherside of this door was an outhouse with a Twisted Hag looking over its shoulder at DAN. It quickly vanished and the outhouse became a massive stretch of farmland with a fire pit and some houses at the center. Where the hag once stood were the entrails of some creature which had been piled up into a spiral shape with trails of blood spiraling out in all directions. One of the figures sitting around the fire stood and approached DAN as they too approached the fire for some guidance as to how to get out of this place.   They had a lengthy conversation about DAN's resolve, burdens and the group of travelers that they were with. In the end DAN was determined to find their brother, knew they would need the help of their friends to help carry the burden, and would still come to find their brother even knowing that they might find something worse than what they found here. DAN was removed from the farm, standing outside the outhouse again, and as they tried to enter again they found themselves once more looping the same interraction.
DAN visited Spalsis to learn more about the Spirals. They ended up learning a great deal from this hermit, more than the other citizens of this realm could offer. Particularly about their brother's condition, location, The Oni, and Stability.   Some of what Spalsis said was echoed when the Spiritual Travelers visited Simol. She claimed to be able to not only help them get into the Spiral, but to be able to keep them safe as well. Simol apparently would just require them to destroy or banish any Stability that they find inside as she, like Spalsis, wishes to keep it contained.
