Cecilia Dunn
Blind Oracle
Fire Maiden Cecilia (a.k.a. Blind Oracle)
I imagined going blind to be a lot worse.
Cecilia was one of the former Fire Maidens, going by the nickname of blind oracle. During her reign in the Wandering Flame's Church, she uncovered the Celestial Tongue, at the cost of her own sight. An event that would eventually help with the return of Fasma.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
An unassuming woman, Cecilia was a Human with short brown hair and deep blue eyes while alive. A soft figure with a light tan, giving off a calm and welcoming appearance.
Identifying Characteristics
After her incident with the First Flame, Cecilia’s eyes glazed over with a visible sparkle to them. People compared them to the night sky, with dilated cat-like pupils. Dark blue in colour, with white specks even visible in complete darkness as if they made their own light.
Special abilities
While blind to the regular world, Cecilia could see everything in the Celestial Tongue. Her incident with the First Flame allows her direct access to the language, able to see things that are not visible to the mortal eye. Even if it hinders her regular vision.
Her studies in the language also gave her some knowledge of using its words. With it comes a slight amount of reality bending, even if she did not use them as much during her lifetime.

Personal history
Early Years
Born in Nexu, Cecilia grew up a regular childhood. An unassuming girl with an interest in the world’s linguistics. Even at a young age, her upbringing amongst a trade route allowed her to study many languages from dozens of travellers.
This experience allowed her to speak multiple languages at once, something that caught the Wandering Flame's Church's attention. She soon got chosen as the next Fire Maiden, moving into Luxaltar by the age of twenty. Although Cecilia earned the title and position in the Church, the age of silence made her only a ceremonial figure as Fasma remained gone.
First Flame Incident
The many attempts of the Church to rekindle the First Flame became desperate. As time moved along, they resorted to older rituals. After a few years in her title as Fire Maiden, Cecilia became the focus of one of these rituals to form a bond between her and the Celestial Realm.
By using a sliver of her soul to rekindle the flame, she would have reignited it. Instead, the result scorched the altar’s room and a blazing light burned through her eyes.
Cecilia ended up blind for the rest of her life, but not unable to see. While her sight of the regular world was gone, she could see past the mortal filter. With it, she became one of the first mortal beings to uncover the Celestial Tongue, the language of creation.
32 Words
Her long recovery period left Cecilia stuck in her chambers for months. While deemed blind, she learned to navigate the world with her impairment, taking time to examine her unfamiliar sight. Seeing what the Celestial Tongue was about and taking notes.
Over the course of her career, she taught herself the language and wrote down whatever she could. She studied its structure, its pronunciation, even speaking it to an extent. To learn even one word took weeks on end, with her only being able to describe thirty-two. Some believe her to even know more words, but nobody knows which those were.
All of it ended in her personal journal, nicknamed the “32 words of the Celestial Tongue”. Whether she used the words’s power is up to scholarly debate, but the book remained hidden by her for long after. Only after her death did some people become aware of it.
Retirement & Death
After her ceremonial retirement as Fire Maiden, Cecilia moved into one of the Church’s monasteries. Her later years had her grow accustomed to the new sight, needing little aid to get around according to sources. Some even said she saw better than when she was alive.
By the age of fifty-one, she peacefully passed away. Her body got buried within the Luxaltar Catacombs, with her journal eventually ending up in the hands of Eldred Van Assen.
