Ramiq al-Tahdir

Born into a modest caravan family, Ramiq is a stock, broad-shouldered Golynn with a booming laugh, a sharp mind for trade, and an unstoppable ambition. Ramiq, through his connections eventually expanded his family’s caravan into a sprawling mercantile company, maintaining trade routes across Nefra, Thal’shara, Zhinra, and Y'Matara.   Calling his company, The Ivory Route, Ramiq would become one of the most prestigious and trusted trade merchants in Al-Khet, establishing his headquarters in the city of Y’Matara. The Ivory Route was known for its luxury transport, elite security, and its Sandseer Eshani, a Hawk-Headed Aven renown for her abilities to traverse The Shifting Paths.   Eventually Ramiq joined The Guild of Timber & Craft, gaining both the prestige of The Gilded Hand and the mentorship of Anwar Sahari, Guildspeaker. Anwar was the representative to the Gilded Council for the Guild of Timber & Craft.   As Ramiq rose the ranks within The Gilded Hand, and gained more notoriety, he was granted lucrative contracts from The Gilded Hand. When an opportunity arose to purchasing a gladiator school, Ramiq jumped at the chance to follow his passion rather than his profession, despite Guldspeaker Anwar warning Ramiq “You forged a trade empire, yet now you leave it to its own devices. Commerce is no mere game”. Laughing off his mentor, Ramiq purchased the school, and named it “The Bastion of Broken Shields”.   With the purchase, Ramiq gained two slaves:
  • Kasim, a retired gladiator, who became the trainer of the school
Kasim also began teaching Ramiq the fighting techniques of the arena, despite his owner having the temperament of a merchant and not a Fighter. However, a year ago, Ramiq was called to the Gilded Council and informed that he would be taking a contract of immense importance. The Shemsu-Ra required a relic to be transported from the Grand Eternal Vault in Y’Matara to the Eternal Vault in Zhinra with the utmost secrecy. After this meeting, Guildspeaker Anwar warned Ramiq that failure in this transportation could result in scrutiny from Sethet-Ka’s Templars. When planning the caravan, Eshani urged Ramiq to arrange for more security for the trip, however Ramiq dismissed her concerns.   Without Ramiq’s knowledge, Eshani approached a friend of hers, Farim el-Zafar, a mercenary for a Merchant Lord of Nefra, in hopes that he could provide some additional security. However, unknown to Eshani, Farim was a secret agent for the Scarlet Jackals, and they used the knowledge of the caravan’s route to attack and steal the item.   A week after Eshani had started the caravan’s route, Ramiq received a report informing him that Eshani and his caravans had disappeared, with no knowledge on what happened to her.   The Shemsu-Ra were furious and denounced both Ramiq and The Gilded Hand publicly. To protect The Gilded Hand’s reputation, the Gilded Council convened and voted to disavow Ramiq, labelling him a disgrace. The matter of the missing relic was brought to Sethet-Ka’s Templars, and during the trial Farim el-Zafar was called upon as a witness and informed the outraged presiding Priestess that Eshani had confided in Farim that Ramiq had planned an elaborate ruse, with his gladiator slaves to steal the relic for himself.   Despite Ramiq’s denials, the Priestess handed the following punishments:
  • The Bastion of Broken Shields was seized and given to the Shemsu-Ra to use as they saw fit
  • Ashar the Sun-Blooded was executed publicly at the end of the month during the Festival of the Crimson within The Arena of Sekhem
  • All over slaves in the Bastion of Broken Shields were auctioned to the highest bidder with the money made added to the Pharaoh’s treasury
  • Ramiq was sentenced to being petrified and made to act as a status in the city for 100 days
After his punishment was finished, and the petrification removed, Ramiq returned to his merchant company The Ivory Route, which was in disarray and no longer had the esteemed reputation it once did, only able to take on the poorest of contracts.
