Smith's Lounge

Update

Sadly, Smith's Lounge is closed, pending extensive repairs and remodeling necessitated by the damage caused by an accidental demon summoning. This was the result of a particularly incompetent orc comedian who was attempting to tell an elvish joke in a Brooklyn accent.   Patrons are advised that when the lounge does reopen, acts for the open mike nights will need to be screened in advance.

Smith's Lounge is a relative new addition to Smith's Bar. It was added to accommodate the crowds that had begun to overwhelm the older facility. Dug as a basement under the bar, the lounge offers a more laid-back environment.   There is a small stage in one corner, which occasionally hosts open mic nights. The tastes of lounge guests varies considerably, so perspective performers should be aware that their acts many not be uniformly well-received.

Purpose / Function

The lounge was constructed when it was realized that there was simply too many customers for the bar. Originally expected to be just an additional room, it has taken on a somewhat different air as many people prefer one to the other.

Design

The decor of the lounge is rather eclectic. The general motif looks like a place where Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack may have been right at home in the 1960's. Bits and pieces from similar establishments on other worlds have found their way here and may be found in various corners of the room.   The chairs are lower than in the bar and are clustered around low tables. Most tables will sit four people comfortably, although there some more intimate spots for two individuals to talk about more private matters.   There is a short bar with a few stools, but this is located out of the flow and is not heavily used.

Entries

The main entrance is a staircase up to the bar, which is the primary entrance. An emergency exit is located near the stage. That door only allows exit; no one may enter through it.   There is a door to the supply cellars in the back.

Sensory & Appearance

The general lighting is dim in the lounge, although each table has a glowing orb that illuminates the contents and those seated around the table.   If no one is on the stage, a variety of music can be heard, at a level low enough to provide an undertone for the conversation without making it necessary to shout to your companions.   The air smells faintly of leather along with expensive perfume and cologne.
