Jade Dwarves
Jade Dwarves are an ethnic group of dwarves mainly populating Hymar and the Temperior range. An isolationist people group, they prefer the live underneath the mountains, only rarely exiting them. This means that they must trade with the outside world via middlemen, and groups such as the Ǎgèzi Dairén halflings. Besides these halflings, the only others they are friendly with are the Anemoi, the Hymari peoples, and those living the plateau. Others are seen as lesser due to their lack of culture in the eyes of the Jade Dwarves. The Hymari and Ǎgèzi Dairén only get a pass because of their somewhat similar religion, which the Jade Dwarves believe to be from their influence. While the Jade Dwarves are somewhat concerned about the neo-Skoúrýkos Empire Minotaur usurpers, they only care from a detached, trade-based perspective and have little actual interest in aiding the Hymari against this threat.
The Jade Dwarves are currntly divided into four dynasties, with most of their settlement being inside these dynasies' borders. Only minimal amounts of Jade Dwarves live outside these borders, and they rarely every migrate to far-off places, staying close by their ancestoral homes. Generally, the three dynasties of the plateau are considered to have one unified culture, while those in the Temperior range have some slight differences. Additionally, there are some Dwarves who are living in exile in the southern regions of the Temperior range following the destruction of the Southern Hold by a volcanic eruptions (which the Jade Dwarves view as being aided by goblins). Consequentially, the Temperior Dwarves have begun preparing revanchist campaigns and the destruction and enslavement of the goblins of the Temperior range. To aid them in this struggle, they have contacted the remnants of the Anemoi Wind Stewardships, who also have lost lands to goblin encroachment.
The Jade Dwarves are excellent builders, especially with jade, their namesake. Their voracious appetite for Jade has for many years led to the stone being extremely valued and one of the main trade goods in the region, as despite having plenty of natural supply the dwarves are always happy to acquire more raw materials to build up their palaces. It is said that the innermost sanctum of the Temperior Dwarves is a massive palace-cave made entirely of jade with inlaid gold and lapis lazuli for contrast value, richly adorned with the finest silks of the past thousand years. Whether this is true or false is unknown because only the most honored Jade Dwarves are allowed in, to say nothing of outsiders.
The Jade Dwarves have their own traditonal pantheon of gods, distinct from those of other dwarves, though it has many parallels to the Hymari pantheon. This had led many to speculate that one of the two religions influenced the other, athough the precise nature of their relation is currently unknown. The Jade dwarves do have unique names for all of their gods, all of which are related to the name of a specific gemstone. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the leader of the pantheon's stone is jade.
